Conditions played (if you want to replicate if you play against my ghost. Don't know if you check a ghosts score beforehand or not but I wont mention how I got on anyway).
White tees (of course) and pin 3.
Fairways and greens firm. Green speed fast (163).
High southeast wind.
Just thought I'd do a little brief summary on each tee shot of my thinking/thoughts.
So we're on the first tee and the first impressions are very good. Love the look and what you've done with the bunkers. I'll take driver here and try bash it down the middle, utilising the tailwind.
On to the 2nd. Planting is looking good along with the rocky texture used here and there. Looking to get a drive right side here. The right bunker I can glimpse off the tee is in play and I hope to avoid.
Love the tee shot here and I really like how you've done the bunkers on the course. Tough drive, considering taking 3w but simliar to the 2nd, the green is on the smaller side (fine by me). I want to leave as short an approach here as possible so driver it is. Approach angle will be good if I find a good drive.
Teaser view of the clubhouse where I'll be enjoying my fillet steak later. Lovely look off the tee. I'll take driver into a headwind and try draw it away from the cheeky little left bunker.
Well impressed with the environment you've created so far.
First par 3 and a tough tee shot in a tailwind. Unsure what club to hit but I'll take a 7 iron and look to go past the pin and use the green slope to bring it back.
Best look off the tee so far. Fantastic stuff. Seems to me you have placed these bunkers well, they're on my mind big time here. So much so I'm gonna hit a 3w here and leave myself a lengthy approach but the green seems approachable. Will happily walk off with a par here.
Ah, those Kerry mountains are looking nice. Maybe I'll have a hike up 'em tomorrow. Tough pin so driver/wedge is the aim here, not too concerned about missing the fairway.
You've done a great job here sir, foreground planting especially is tops. Pin looks accessible so although it's a tight drive the wind suits and a miss wont necessarily rule out birdie.
The clubhouse view returns on the 9th tee. Thoughts surface of what libation I'll indulge myself with first, before I quickly snap out of it ha. A par 5 drive into a headwind will do that to you. Wont reach this in two (or will I?) so I'm just looking to get this down there somewhere on the centre right fairway and take it from there.
Excellent front 9. We flow nicely to a short 3. Pin is situated in a mini punchbowl. Can I find it in this hefty crosswind?
Great view all the way to the pin on this short 4. Driver is an option but doesnt look appealing, 3w looks dicey because of the right to left camber and the fact I want to be on the flatter left side here without threatening the bunkers which could leave an awkward short approach. Hybrid it is.
Such a great look here. I want nothing to do with those right bunkers but I also want to be right side. Hhmm, I'll aim for centre fairway. (Got a closer look at the clubhouse here. Like it. Looks a bit like an older building that has been modernised at some point perhaps).
This fairway is gonna be tough for me to find playing the conventional way so I'm gonna take a punt and bash a driver as far down there as I can in the tailwind over the line of the mounds. One way or another I'll have a short shot in. Prevailing wind has been varied and fair so far, so all good there.
Lovely little par 3. Green looks very receptive generally but this pin is somewhat tucked so I suspect the toughest. In this headwind I want to go right for it, it's a smallish target but all the off green/green slopes help. This hole shouts birdie opportunity.
Tee shot/wind sets up perfect for this lefty to draw it out over the large mound and away from the far blind bunker on to the far fairway. If I can execute a birdie seems likely but it looks like a decision of whether to go for this green in two or not is pending.
Love the tee shot and look here (again). In this headwind I definitely want to hit driver and I will attempt the tougher line here for a better look in.
Similar in length to the last par 3 but a tougher green. Front right (this one) and back right pins look hardest. Love the green here.
Beautiful look on this finisher! Will try and take it down the right on this not too difficult tee shot and see if I can finish with a bang. 😉
Really enjoyed that round man. You did an excellent job here sir. Would be far from out of place in the main contest this one imo. It all felt very WAW to me and I could see myself teeing it up on this track irl and having a blast.
Now for that fillet and a well earned pint.
