When my country was announced, I was admittedly skeptical of my lack of options for this course. After some research and plnaning, I have more options and ideas than I originally thought. I also have a lot of pain in both of my hands and wrists (more on this below). So, I've decided to go full speed ahead on my Saudi course instead of the non-contest effort I had started.
About three weeks ago, I started practicing in order to get back into playing real golf a few times a month this summer. About a week ago I hit a shot from the rough and hit the dreaded hidden tree root. My hands and wrists immediately hurt a lot, but I was able to finish the round. I have lingering pain from that, but also some severe tendonitis in my right hand, including some numbness of my index fingertip. I'm headed to the orthopedist to confirm but it has to be tendonitis (the internet says so). Surprisingly, this doesn't really affect my violining. I have some pain, but no more than usual for a guy my age. What this all means is, I have to cut down my gaming a bunch. No more NBA2K (which I was really starting to enjoy), and less time designing. I'll still play my tour rounds, but I have to really cut back any activities that can foster repetitive stress injuries, and of course, real golf. And yes I get the irony of me typing a long post when I'm supposed to stop that sort of activity. So, enough of the sob story and let's see the course. I'm going mountain instead of seaside or desert here.

OK, so about a week ago I decided I didn't like anything that was happening with the mountain course. I dove back into research and found a look I like better in a different region of the country. I started over last week and here's where we're at.

Nice work Chuck. Good to see you bringing it! Sculpting looks great Not sure whether I like the mow lines or not but it might fit the style.

Nice work Chuck. Good to see you bringing it! Sculpting looks great Not sure whether I like the mow lines or not but it might fit the style. Personally, I hate mow lines, and almost never use them. For this course, I want to match the impeccable attention to detail that all middle eastern countries have. Look at the cities. Dubai, obviously is crazy with all the architecture. The cities in Saudi Arabia are the same way. That "look at us" attitude that makes everything look so fancy. I would think the same attitude would carry over to the golf courses. Mine will have impeccable landscaping, luxury clubhouse and parking (covered parking actually), and smooth retaining wall around all of the water hazards (except the ocean obviously).

OK, so I have a front nine now. I've started working on the back nine but I keep getting distracted by planting and changing things. Such is designer life I suppose...

After a short break, I'm back at it working on the back nine. I'm not sure I'm going to keep the city. I just wanted to see what it looked like.

I've got 18 playable holes now. I've completely redesigned two of them at least twice due to major elevation changes I've made. Below is the course and the 18th green.
