So, Spain, huh? Right then, welcome to El Rio Lo Atraviesa (working title... reserve the right to change to something people can actually pronounce) Seems like a nice location for a golf course don’t you think? So, this village sits just at the base of a limestone gorge in Galicia (btw it doesn’t really... but play along!,)... so the golf course sits mostly on the other side of the river overlooking this rather quaint little village... or at least it will when the contractors move in to get this thing built! The course will feature some stunning riverside holes, some significant elevation changes, some holes playing up into the gorge and lots of great views down to the village sitting by the river. Expect vineyards (well probably one), olive groves and some stronger hints at the Spanish locale... More to follow!

The Spanish exposition is in full swing... So,having decided on the setting, i had a good idea of the basic flow of golf holes,so started out getting a basic routing in place. The idea is you play from the top of course down towards the river, with 9,10,11,12 and 13 down in the valley. 14 will then start back up into the gorge with 15 and 16 reaching the furthest point in the gorge. 17 brings you back round the corner for the final hole back into the clubhouse area. I’ve got a few holes in place with the main layout and some general planting... here’s a look at 2 and 4 Once I have a basic 18 hole layout, I’ll be reviewing each hole for playability... adding additional bunkers etc. Also trying not to leave all the planting til the end...

So, the Spanish adventure continues... and an update was long overdue! All 18 holes have at least a basic form and structure... although 15 is still in danger of being completely reworked... Happy with progress in general though
