As a new designer, I had three simple goals with this course: 1. I wanted to work on shaping. I wanted to give the golfer opportunities to roll the ball on to the green or down to the hole. 2. I wanted to work on shaping. I still struggle with bunker shaping, but hope to have come a long way. 3. I wanted to work on shaping. I wanted a clean, realistic look that is challenging, yet enjoyable and fair. With that, I hope you will play and critique Twisted Oak. It is a NC/SC coastal style course, set on the intracoastal waterway. Thanks to Crazy Canuck for all his tutorials, b101 for some more advanced stuff, and lastly whataboutameobi, who played through my first course "Grandfather Mountain". He gave great feedback, the results of which I hope is seen in this new design. Enjoy!!!

Maybe not a great idea to post a rookie course while WCoD is going on, haha.

Finding the right time to publish can be tricky, especially if there is a design contest. I gave it a play tonight and did enjoy my round. I am not a designer so can not give much feedback that way, other designers can spot things us mere mortals can not, anyway, I felt you did a good job on the greens, slopes could be used to feed the ball and they played well. The bunkering looked good, maybe a little flat at times but I did not see any major issues with them. The course did seem flat overall, especially the front nine but if that was the look you were going far, it was fine. I thought the fairways at times looked a bit wobbly, not sure if the right word to use, the edge of the fairways had a lot of curves and did not always work for me. The biggest issue for me though was hole nine, because of a headwind, it becomes a forced lay up and the green was not reachable in two(back tees), pretty much a no,no on a par 4. Overall though, you have a good course here that is very playable and I can see potential in your design. I look forward to seeing what you do in the future as you gain more experience.

Any feedback is welcome. #9 was a struggle in how to best shape that hole. I definitely see what you mean.

Just an FYI - I cannot see any of the pics in your original post. All I see are error signs where the pics should be (they show up as a circle with a line through it).
I'll give this one a play tonight - my recent publish of the Charleston Muni Redesign fits right into the South Carolina vibe you said this course has. Looking forward to checking it out.
EDIT - played the course just now. Really liked the real-life feel and details of the houses, the raised drawbridge, etc. You captured that atmosphere perfectly. Well done!
Personally, I felt some of the greens were too small, and some fairway landing areas were also too narrow. Hole 13 had a landing zone fairway width of just around 20 yards across I think (but I made a 60-foot eagle putt there, so all's well that ends well!).
A couple of the pin locations (I played pin set 1) were on questionable slopes, meaning they were on areas near or surrounded by yellow/orange/red putting grid sections. Just something to keep an eye out for.
And this is probably just a personal preference thing, but I didn't care for so many of the holes being so closely bordered by the retaining walls. I was always afraid a shot that would be just slightly off line would hit the wood planks and fly off into the water. The look of them is great, but they could really affect play on some shots that are not all that bad.
All that said, this is a lovely course with a great real-life feel that I enjoyed playing quite a bit!

Had a go today.
I enjoyed it but it was tough for me.
P.S. The pics are missing. I use pastepic and the photos expire after a certain amount of time. Maybe something similar happened here.
