Uvongo Beach GC is my entry into the WCoD. Inspired by the likes of Durban Country Club and Zimbali Coastal Estate the course is situated along the east coast of South Africa and is surrounded by thick tropical vegetation. The course has many undulations being built on the coastal dunes. A premium is placed on your tee shots here with level lies few and far between. The greens are receptive but require precision from your approach shots to avoid the mean slopes and swirls caused by the weaving land. The front 9 takes you through the dense forested areas returing to the massive hotel and clubhouse along the coast. The back 9 features longer views of the sandy dunes along the beach and offers some of the most picturesque holes on the course. I hope you enjoy the course as much as I do! Designer notes Stay away from 187's !!! Green speeds are set to 168 and firmness is just over 7 The rough has minimal role and firmness to simulate the thick rough along the east coast of SA. I suggest medium winds ... and high winds for a challenge. The markers on 12 marks the right edge of the fairway, not the centre due to only being semi-blind and the left edge being visible. Also the markers are color coded for each of the back 2 tees The course features a lot of OB. I know this will split opinions, the goal however is not to make the course artificially difficult, having played many courses that this one is based on, I know from first hand experience that you don't find your ball once it's in the dense vegetation... the only way to simulate that in game is OB unfortunately. There are holes that feature OB due to the beach and thus this reasoning does not apply to those situations Lastly big thanks to jayraygun for the logo!

Excuse me sir, this is the World Cup of Design, not the National Treasure! It's kind of funny how a lot of people's World Cup and even whatever project they may have been working on alongside of or in lieu of World Cup take a lot of direct inspiration from the National Treasure countries. Could give us newer designers a lot of reference material. 8.6.1

Wow Nitro this is just class. Land movement is so much fun.
Alright, that's enough praise. I need to focus on beating you.

And in the most gentleman-ny-ish way possible I hope you don't😂 But in all seriousness it's been a blast and I just hope I can keep up with the young lads! Looking forward to seeing what you and the other 2 gentlemen in the group come up with

Can't think of a designer who's come further in the last year. Another great publish and love the way you ramped up the difficulty with the OB on the back nine - made me really sweat over a few shots. Hope this one goes deep as it really deserves to; shows Mayday was right to give you that exemption, too - you certainly won't be needing one of those again! Managed my first hole in one on 17 as well, so there's that

the thick vegetation was really well done here. everything from the land movements to the sightlines were all sublime. We really dont have many courses that look like this ingame and that makes it even more special imo. definitely a must play and a worthy successor to Port Melbourne

This course is absolutely fantastic! I enjoyed every single shot, and the consistent feel of the environment kept the immersive experience through the entire round. The clubhouse... brah... You truly killed it sir. Really well done.

Some nice dense planting. Some great looks off the tee. An environment well realised overall. Solid golf. Well implemented OB. (Except maybe 13 coz I was in it twice after a very fast fest and carded a lovely quad ha!)
What's not to like? Very nice work sir.

Congrats on another great publish. I know we don't play golf in the clubhouse but I certainly appreciate the work that goes into stuff like that which adds to the atmosphere and in turn, the enjoyment of the round. Hands down the best clubhouse (modern or otherwise) I've seen in the game. You also clearly put a lot of thought into the sightlines and quality of the course. Was a lot of fun. Congrats and BOL in the comp.
