Looking to see if there are other backyard smokers and wannabe grillmasters out there. Let’s share experiences, equipment, recipes and whatever else. I have a 15 lbs brisket on the grill right now. Will provide pics shortly

Nice setup, the Pit Boss ! I'm downsized these days, but still do one small brisket & one pulled pork a year, even if we freeze half of it right away.
As in most things, I buck any sense of propriety. Wood chips w/propane. For brisket ... hickory, oak, apple & cherry are my mix in descending order. I've done pecan instead for oak. Not a big mesquite fan for a transplanted Texan.

Smoked a brisket yesterday now reverse searing some ribeye steaks tonight. Versatile as hell

Getting a hand-me-down CharBroil because my son-in-law got himself a PitBoss (which I saw in action for my grandson's 22nd this weekend). Convenient, as my old one was ready for replacement burner piping this year.
Love the classic diamond grill grating.

One thing that's always bugged me is that my personal tastes make me hate fatty parts of meat, and I don't like anything less than medium (in regards to done-ness). I have a friend who always ragged on me (he gets burnt ends and eats the fat I'd trim off of my meal) because of this. I feel like I can't really appreciate BBQ as a result. Any tips?

The first thing that comes to mind is chicken. Not fatty like beef is and in my opinion it’s fun to cook. Tons of different options from doing wings, legs, breasts, whole chicken, countess rub, sauce, and brine combinations. Plus it’s a lot healthier than beef

Nice smoker totally wish I had one. Been trying to convince my wife to get one but she’s not a fan of BBQ. One day I will build up the courage to just go buy a pellet grill. Food looks yummy!

Pellet grills can literally do it all. They're controlled just like an oven so you just dial in your desired temp and cook away. I've done pizzas on it, veggies, queso dip, seafood.... Anything you need to heat up you can use a pellet grill for
