Shadowthorn (wCoD)

Unbelievable!! The famed explorers have done it again, while combing the the harsh desert slopes for rumored riches they stumbled upon yet another championship golf course!! Shadowthorn is named for the massive petrified tree that casts its shadow across the heart of the course. A daunting par 73 measuring 7,831 from the tips its sure to challenge even the best. Be sure to avoid the large deep penalizing bunkers if u want a chane to go low.. This is my entry for 2021 wcod contest so I hope u all enjoy. As always any feedback good bad or ugly is much appreciated.....

Yep, I was liking the look of this one straight off the bat and proceeded to thoroughly enjoy plotting my way around the track. At near 8000 yds from the tips, she is a lengthy one but it played very nicely throughout in the low default wind I got.

Certainly more of a course for those that are interested in how the land moves than those that are more interested in the off course 'eye candy', as it's called.

Should be a strong contender to emerge from the group, at least, I'd have thought.

This was a fun course. Really like the grassy texture and the dunes look. Even at 8000 yds, it didn’t feel ridiculously long. And I scored well, so that’s an added bonus. Definitely want to give this another go to try out different pins

I really enjoy the variety of different looks and environments that you have been going for in courses lately. I think the star of this course, however, was the smooth natural flow of the green undulations. I had a really fun round, and enjoyed the (mostly treeless) environment you created here. Well done bro!

Thanks for the reply...so underneath is that just the default like desert heavy rough? I love the texture so much underneath and would love to create that look in the future.

For the most part, there's a lot of rough sculpting under the grass to give it the darker rocky texture.. shoot me a personal message if u need any help with it..

Really well done on this course. I am a sucker for courses with really clean lines and this one delivered for sure. The holes were all extremely unique and the I truly felt like I was transported to your desert base course. The hills/undulations were well done and created some amazing views.
My only feedback is around some of the bunkers, at times I felt they were quite large and very deep. I realize this was a specific design choice and while they looked great from a distance in practical sense they were a bit much. This is just a minor thing though.

Thanks for the playthrough and feedback, really appreciate it. I do agree I got a bit carried away with the bunkers, I almost scrapped them completely and reworked them a few times in the design process but ultimately stuck with it..

It didn't detract at all from the enjoyment of the course. I really liked the vibe you created. I felt like I was out there in twilight with my golf cart and a few sleeves of balls.
