Let’s talk about the DKC games here.
Donkey Kong Country Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong-Quest Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble Donkey Kong Country Returns Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
I’ve not long started DKC on the switch online. Never played these games when young (only DK64) so I’m playing catch-up. Really enjoying it. Very fast, very tough. Just made it to the 4th Candy save point after numerous attempts. The snowy levels took a while to adapt to.
Which is the best game of the series? I hear good things about 2 and Tropical Freeze.

Finished the original DKC 2-3 weeks ago. Absolutely loved it.
Playing through DKC2 now. Up to a level called Web Woods. Just as good as the first game, albeit I miss playing as Donkey Kong.
Also, I’m playing through a game called Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair. From the makers of DKC and I have to say it’s incredible. Probably even better than DKC.

Have now played through each game of the original trilogy and enjoyed each game immensely. I couldn’t tell you which game is the best, they are all great.
Now playing through Returns on the Wii and it took a while to adjust to after the OGs but now I have, it’s probably even better the SNES trilogy. Only thing hampering it is bloody waggle controls to roll instead of using a button.

10 months later I have beaten Returns and beaten Tropical Freeze also. Currently playing through Tropical Freeze in hard mode with DK. Best 2D platformer ever. Simple as that.

Just noticed that Returns is getting the HD treatment in the new year, so hopefully the game will play without silly wiggle waggle Wii controls. Having said that, its price-tag is silly so more than likely won’t get it. Shame.
