Welcome to the
National Treasure Design Contest! The goal behind this course design event is to imagine you’ve been hired to create an award winning golf course in a location somewhere around the globe, with the challenge being, you don’t know ahead of time where that location is until you’re given the job!
Registration Period: All designers are welcome to register for this event by replying to this post that they're interested, between the dates of March 2nd – 15th. At that point, registration will close, and on March 15th CrazyCanuck1985 and VctryLnSprts will host a selection show on Andre’s YouTube channel at 4pm ET to reveal the field of 25 designers and draw their course locations.
Who Gets Chosen: There are no invites, but it's also not completely 'open' either. Weighted consideration will be given to applicants in this fashion: 1) a TGCTours design contest winner within the past two years, 2) a top-5 finisher in any TGCTours design contest within the past year, 3) a review of recently submitted courses to the TGCTours database 4) wild-card entries chosen at the contest directors’ discretion.
What If I Don't Get Chosen: Depending on how many total registrations we get that don’t get in to the main event, we might hold a 9-hole side contest for the remaining designers. However, making preparations to enter the upcoming Challenge Circuit Championship run by MattF27, toddfather, and pithydoctorg would be a wise move as well.
When Can I Begin: You may begin your entry as soon as the official field is announced by the directors on March 15th (no WIPs or previously published remodels are permitted).
How Long Do I Have: The contest publish deadline is May 30th, and the publish window will be from May 15th through May 31st.
What Are The Requirements: You have an open sandbox with which to work, and your mission is to create a course you believe could host a TGCTours event in the global location that you were given (tournament objects and crowds are neither required nor discouraged).
How Will The Contest Be Judged: The recent TGCTours judging improvements and wholistic approach will be applied to the scoring of each course in the contest. MattF27 & VctryLnSprts will serve as the judging coordinators for this event.
What Is The Prize: The winner will receive a painting of their signature golf hole by resident artist MattF27.
