Well, I've got all 18 holes routed and surfaced so I figured it's high time I started a WIP thread. After playing around with a few other ideas, I decided to go with one that I've been wanting to try for a while now; creating an Irish style links course! My plot is very heavily influenced by Waterville Golf Links and the hole designs are inspired by the many great Irish links courses including Lahinch, Royal County Down, Enniscrone, Ballybunion, Royal Portrush, and many others. My main goal for this course is to create a course that doesn't rely on planting and fancy lighting to be memorable. This design, for me, is all about creating a course that will thoroughly test all (and I mean all) of the shots in a player's bag. I also want to create a course that plays much differently from round to round depending on the wind (as a links course should). I'm pretty excited about what I have going and feel like (through early playtesting) that I'm achieving my goals. Here's a few pics: First Hole:  Second Hole:  Tenth Hole:  13th hole:  16th Hole:  18th green:  I plan on hopefully finishing up all minor tweaks to the sculpting and surfacing this weekend so I'll pretty much have the next month to plant and playtest. I can see all sorts of links courses in this. Fairways like Carne, dunes and coastline like Tralee, a golf course 7,000 times better than Old Head - can't wait to see this one come to life fully!

Kind of been kicking myself in the butt for choosing a links course as it’s already been a ridiculous amount of single planted bushes but in the end it’ll be worth it 😁. |

Update time:
As of right now I have 16 and 3/4 holes completely done. I will finish planting the course itself tomorrow night even if it takes me all night. Wednesday night will be for adding any last minute touches I feel are necessary (meter permitting, of course) allowing me to publish approximately 3 minutes before the deadline. How’s that for time management!?!?! After this, I plan to take a well deserved break from the designer and enjoy everyone else’s submissions. I love the course I’ve created but man has planting this one been a grind!

Stayed up till 4 am last night planting. Have about a 1/2 hour left of necessary planting left to do and some off course stuff to fiddle with until the deadline arrives. So stoked to finally be able to see the finish line on this one!
