This is unfair and uncalled for, how dare you release a bunker less course better than asylum. I call foul

Ok, aside from being a little heavy-handed with bunker placement, rings of fringe and light rough around the tees, and reckless endangerment of poor baby eagles... not a bad job tPet... can I call you tPet?!?! ... tPet it is.
All joking aside, these greens were really fun. Several shots during my round were slightly off the mark, only to be funneled back down to the pin. Good use of a variety of rewards for taking the more difficult options from the tees on several holes. The plot and routing was done superbly, and the canyon was visible from several holes but not over done. Overall, solid publish sir!

actual thoughts now I've played it some more,
This feels like a CC course, and that feels intended. Most of my criticisms stem from what you have to do to a course to make it easy enough to be a CC course. Petro greens like at carbondale and potunk are some of my favorite elements on your courses so I was a bit sad at how much tamer these greens were even at 187.
otherwise it's a fascinatingly minimalist course that I can certainly get behind.

I definitely like the minimalism here, I can get behind that! I do, however, agree with Q - my biggest pickup from this course was that the greens didn't really have much bite to them sometimes. One of the reasons I really enjoyed courses like Asylum, digitalbunny's Greystone Chapel and SkinniePost's Bryn Awelon is that I felt those sets of greens were a lot more challenging, whether it was size or contouring that made it like that. Not to say I didn't enjoy this course, I just felt some extra contouring would have pushed it up that little bit higher for me. That said, a fantastic effort, awesome environment work and I can't wait to see your World Cup course Petro!

Yep, cd06 Q you guys are totally right, on this course I tried to push myself away from my usual stuff, which is what I like to do between contests as an exercise in rounding my design ability out. There's a lot from this course that you'll see in World Cup (working low to the ground, embracing helping slopes) but that course will also have 100+ bunkers, so I felt I needed to build this to show myself I don't need to crutch on bunkers every time. I don't know if any of this makes sense but the short answer is yes, it's supposed to be easy and the greens are supposed to be subtle. Doesn't make it automatically the right decision (my more dramatic greens are definitely more fun) but it's something I felt I needed to do.

I do say this having 4 putted the 10th from 4 feet by not focusing on my putting line lol.
Great environment work though - 18 is a beauty.

Where did this come from? How many freaking courses do you have in your folder to just throw this out there for fun mid contest?!
Nice work as ever. Nailed the vibe per usual.

Environment here was pretty much flawless and this will definitely be a shoe in for the Top 100 (planning on having it done by the week after the WCoD). I really just wanted an enjoyable and fun round and the course definitely delivered on that - I'm sure there will be people who love the greens

Absolute blast to play. The contouring and undulations of the course were top notch and allowed for some fun ground game play. Didn't feel that it needed and bunkers, which is always a sign of a well made bunkerless course. Well done man!

Or was that someone else who was doing a monthly list and you did a one off top 50 only?

Next one is coming early April!
