Hi everyone, I'm currently working on a course almost completed with alot of fairway and green side bunkers that I'm having a uniform ring of heavy rough around. Quinlan Roche said to me that it looked similar to the autogen rough and that I should seek more advice on it. The rough I've put around it is a bit wider than the auto gen (see pic in the link below) cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/751622425262686249/811167796053540884/PS_App_20210206_012019.jpegJust wanted everyone's thoughts please as I wouldnt like it to be misinterpreted and possibly stop it getting to Tour Worthy (if the rest of the course is deemed up to the mark) I have tried a bigger ring of rough and it just looked untidy and I didn't want to cut bunkers into green like a sand belt style. Just trying to add something that "could" exist in real life and is a bit outside the box. Trying to be a bit unique. Would appreciate constructive thoughts. Thanks alot

What width is the secondary layer around the bunker? Could be just a tad wider in my opinion as it’s hardly noticeable from the pic. I like the way the heavy rough helps the bunkers to “pop” visually.

Wanted a relatively small rough collar so that it wont really stop a ball rolling into the sand if going at any sort of pace. Collar is a yard wide in the pic. Bit more pop when it's in the sun. Rough is manually splined

This looks fine for bunkers entirely surrounded by fairway surface, but please for the love of god do not do this for any bunkers that aren't.

Dont worry, actually most bunkers on the course are surrounded by fairway surface. Also its heavy rough, I'm not using light rough on the course at all.

Personally, I'd always tend toward the smooth ring of fairway. Given that anyone mowing it would be cutting fairway down (i.e. it's lower than rough), it makes more logical sense to me that they would mow that in a smooth line/curve. Particularly if heavy rough. Plus, it gets really weird with finicky bunker shapes.
Just my personal take though, no one right way here.

No really skinny finger parts that I'd think a mower in real life would have an issue with but I will check all of them later on to make sure. Just trying to do something a little different to my last course (El Montcau Catalunya) Planted alot more muted too to go with the style I'm after so hopefully it all works together.
