I will just start out and say that I'm an average golfer on this game. I am trying to compete in Qualifying in the Challenge Circuit and am struggling mightily with putting. I either push everything to the right or am long - can't seem to find that happy medium. Any tips for how to improve here? Is it all about tempo? When I feel the vibration I push up to putt but I'm losing a LOT of strokes due to my inability to putt.
Does this just come with practice - should I just stay on the putting green for a while? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Turn the vibration off.

Use the vibration to tell you where in your swing you should start your stroke up. Don't wait for the vibration, it is too late by the time you move. Rather look at your putter position when it starts to vibrate and then use the visual cue to putt. You can also do that without the vibration, but I find that harder (lots of practice swings to determine correct putter strength).

It seems that the only thing that the vibration is doing is giving you the yips. Turn it off.

I've only been playing for a few months but I'm comfy putting - I'm in CC-B. All I can say is how I do it and maybe one or more things will help.
1. I make sure I go through a routine for each putt unless it's a tap-in.
2. I set the cursor a certain distance depending on uphill or downhill. So for me, if a putt is 10 feet long and 2 inches uphill, I will put the cursor at 12 feet. If it's a 10 foot putt downhill 2 inches, I set it to 8 feet with the cursor. Sometimes I'll add an extra yard. Of course, set the cursor left or right according to the break you see - I don't think you have an issue with that though.
3. I always practice putt before each putt (I practice full swing too). As I click the stick to go into practice mode, I switch the camera to the closer one behind me b so I can see my putter backswing better and I can see the green between me and the hole better. I take my swings and watch the feedback in the bottom right to check the percentage.
4. I check the vertical line after each practice putt swing- if that vertical line is a solid white, I know that my putt will go the exact distance I set it for (with exceptions). If the vertical line is lightly white - it's either a little too strong or weak a practice swing. If the vertical line is red, it is way too weak or way too strong. The percentage number and vertical line feedback happens quickly so you have to try to quickly look in the corner after each practice swing.
5. Once I'm consistently swinging and seeing the vertical line as solid white, I know I'm ready to putt- I click out of practice mode and execute the putt. ---- There's an exception to the feedback - it doesn't always take into account large undulations in the green. So let's say it's way uphill - like 2 feet up or 2 feet down, the feedback will not compensate enough so I add extra yardage to extremely uphill putts and subtract extra yardage for severely downhill putts.
So it looks like a lot -most people just hit it -but cherry pick anything you may want to try and just find the routine that best fits you. If you keep an eye on the feedback you'll develop the natural feel and won't even need any of these tips. Good luck with qualifying.

I think this sums it up for most of us.. Props to r0nrun for finding this one!

the push and speed are different issues with different solutions. my line gets off every so often and I've found my grip/thumb placement is often the culprit when pulling or pushing, so finding what helps/hurts there may help that part. the tempo is mostly just practice, but would second the practice swing and using the feedback to know if you are on or not especially for longer putts

I used struggle with getting a straight line, always pushing or pulling it. Couple of things I find worked. Firstly when you pull back on the stick even a little the backswing begins. I found I was pulling back the stick like a normal swing and was all over the place. Now I barely move the stick back and find that my subsequent downswings are much more stable. I do use the hapatic feedback, but for every putt I will generally do a few practice putts to get the distance. Finally there is a course someone designed called DISTANCE CONTROL PUTTING. 9 holes, on a flat green, 9 putts of differing length. I always play this before a round, takes only about 5 minutes. With no break to worry about all you have to do is hit the putts straight and get the distance correct, great practice.

As for practice swings, the results only seem to show about every third practice stroke, and even then it is just a flash, most of the time I have to go by the color to see if it was a good swing. I sure wish HB/2K would fix this issue, but I know it has been reported to them many times and it is on their list (just at the bottom I suspect).

liebs44 Tempo for putts exists on the backstroke. Take two players - Point A is the starting point and point B is the furthest point on the back swing. If each player moves their putter head exactly the same distance, the player which reaches point B first will hit the ball further. sandsaver01 I'm guessing you have a slow putt takeaway? Fast putting strokes always show the % for your practice swings.

You can enable haptic feedback on PC, even if using a controller. Use Steam in Big Picture mode, go to settings and then enable Playstation or Xbox configuration support (depending on controller). If you then scroll to detected controllers, it'll give you Preferences, where you can turn rumble preference on.
If you're on mouse/keyboard, I suspect no luck, but not sure on that one, maybe there is a vibrating mouse?! Only mention the above as it took me the best part of four months to work it out!

Unfortunately for me I have arthritis in my thumbs so I cannot play the game using a controller, one of the reasons I moved from PS4 to PC.
