Try making them bigger (like really big) and sinking them into the ground so they're more a part of the land. Here is a sample of the idea I have going also mixing in plants to help cover any weird edges or overlaps help. Also check out courses by @babybull and arcticfury for some great rockwork.

I’d experiment with adding a steeper, more cliff-like area above the hill you’re working on. That way, the rocks will appear to have “broken off” the main escarpment over time. I’d also suggest using as many different rocks as you can (while still fitting the look you’re going for) and avoid multi-plant with the bigger rocks. Smaller ones it could work ok. Like lessthanbread said, sink your larger rocks into the ground a bit to make them look like they’ve been there for a while.

I agree with Bread and Ballz... To make decent looking rock outcroppings, you have to spend an obnoxious amount of time and do a bunch of trial and error. Like Bread said, play an Articfury course... any of them really, and look at his rockwork. Then, try to replicate it, fail, try again, fail,... (repeat until you are about to give up completely)... then, viola! You will have a pretty good looking outcropping. I can't over emphasize enough that playing courses by experienced designers, and stealing their techniques is the only way to go. I would also recommend Hallstatt Golf Club by VctryLnSprts, Rocky Fork Ridge by Terry Grayson & VcrtyLnSprts, Marlette Fells by B101, and Geiranger GC, Norway by Sindre. There are a few more that haven't been ported to 2K21... **cough** Kraken's Revenge by Terry Grayson **cough** Kamauri Cliffs by gamesdecent **cough** ..., but here's to wishing they find their way to this game.

Trying to achieve ArticFury level is not quite in the cards yet but hey, it's good to have a target to work to.
Thanks for the list BB

I feel like I've been transported to the shooting of the next Star Wars movie. Looks really cool Reebdog, cool use of Rocks for sure.
