My third design, Crystal Rock Falls, set in Colorado, influenced by Donald Ross, some Alister MacKenzie, and a lot of my own ideas. A Par 72 hilly mountain course with a lot of elevation changes, uneven lies in the fairways, and large challenging greens. There's a variety of bunkers throughout the course including some grass bunkers with some deep bunkers being much more penal than others. This is my first try at creating waterfalls and there ended up being five different ones featured throughout the course which can be seen from just about every hole. The layout is pretty open with great views of the course and surrounding mountains from every hole. I play tested at 187 if you would like to make the greens tougher, 164 is default. Thanks for all of the help from the community, it's much appreciated!
Red Tees - 7173
White Tees - 6589
The front nine plays about 500 yds longer than the back, has five par 4's to start then a stretch of par 3/5/3/5.
The back nine offers plenty of opportunities to make up for dropped shots on the front and features two of my favorite holes on the course, holes 15 and 16. Hole 15 is the shortest par 3 on the course at 146/122 yds. It's a volcano green complex with three bunkers and OB long and wide left. Hole 16 is possibly the signature hole of the course. A short 342/323 yds par 4 with multiple options available depending on how aggressive you want to play the hole. Three bunkers are in the center of the fairway. The Green slopes mostly left to right, features two tiers, a pretty nasty grass bunker to the left, bunker front right, and a long approach sends your ball down the hill maybe into the water if it's long enough. Left of the center fairway bunkers will be the ideal angle in for most hole locations, but is also the most narrow part of the fairway and has water wide left. Right of the fairway bunkers is the widest part of the fairway, wide right has some knolls. You can also carry the fairway bunkers for a pitch shot in or depending on the wind go for the green.
Recommend checking out both sets of tees if you like the course the first time around. The shorter tees provide some different angles on some holes and brings more risk/reward options into play on most holes.
