Am I the only one that loves hitting these things? I can hit these things perfect pretty much every time including dialing down with distance control. I completely revamped my bag this morning to accommodate a third in my bag.
They were completely worthless in the last game.

Nope, I chucked one in for a wedge to combat issues near the top of the bag. Shame you still get the weird lie penalty vs a 4 iron but tempo seems much easier to control.

I have one, but it is basically just to fill in a yardage gap between my 3I and 3W. Hybrids are poor from the rough when compared to irons.

I have one, but it is basically just to fill in a yardage gap between my 3I and 3W. Hybrids are poor from the rough when compared to irons. Would a 5W be better than a hybrid from the rough? typically the woods carry a stiffer percentage penalty than the hybrids. In some cases - the % penalty for my 4I compared to 3H or 4H is only about 5% - so I have used 3H (222yd Callaway Mav Max) from rough at times. It really comes down to how bad the % penalty is.. generally the irons are in the 77-87% - but if my 4I shows 77% and my Hybrid at 74% - I'll use the Hybrid as the roll-out is better. The same lie % for a wood would be somewhere in the 65% range - so not worth using it.. I'd suggest finding a Hybrid that is roughly equivalent to the 5W and give it a few plays to see how you like it.. My bag: D - Bridgestone Tour B JGR - Purple 295 (10.5*) 3W - Cal Mav Max - 241 3H - Cal Mav Max - 222 4H - Cal Mav Max - 213 4I - Cal Mav Max - 200 5I - Cal Mav Pro - 183 6I - Cal Mav Pro - 174 7I - Cal Mav Pro - 164 8I - Cal Mav Pro - 155 PW - Cal Jaws MD5 Black - 136 (46*) GW - Cal Jaws MD5 Chrome -Gold - 118 (50*) SW - Cal Jaws MD5 Chrome - Gold - 105 (54*) LW - Cal Jaws MD5 Chrome - Grey - 82 (58*)
