Finally have a decent start and idea going here. Wanted to push myself so I did invoke a few constraints: - Tighter routing - no specifics to this, but I wanted to not have the course take up the entire plot
- Limit the number of bunkers - Not going bunker free, but less bunkers especially on Par 4s and 5s. Trying to create interesting land movements that will punish and redirect, also makes framing a little challenging sometimes
- Keep it under 7200 yards. I tend to create lots of long holes and wanted to focus on mid-length and shorter par 4's.
Here are some pics from the Par 4 6th (probably be #15 when I'm done though)

Thanks for the comments guys, really digging on this plot. Have the "competition 9" routed, 3 holes planted, 3 holes half-planted, and 3 in very rough shape.
Here's another good snapshot of the work so far. Hogsback par 4 in the front left, Coore and Crenshaw par 5 on the right, and an alpish/punchbowl par 4 in the middle, the par 4 6th in my original post is in the middle left and an eden on that spit of land in the background

Made a little progress this week, nothing major. Really wish someone could build a clubhouse that doesn't suck for me.

Finally happy with the "competition 9", not 100% planted but almost there. Here's a few shots of the finisher. Have the front nine routed now too and a few of those holes planted. Still not happy with the design of three holes on the front, but I'll tear them up and replace them a few times this month until it clicks.

Gotta push to finish in the next few weeks due to crazy work commitments in March. Starting to really plant the front nine now. Here's a couple snaps of the 1st, 2nd (Leven), and 4th (Road).
1st hole, slight dogleg left pretty open off the tee though. A "firm handshake" to get the round going
2nd: Leven. The water long isn't in play but the bunkers definitely are. The first of 4 straight templates with "Short" in the distance along the cliffs, then road coming back at you and the tee for the double plateau to your right
4th: Road. The Hotel is played by the large dune on the left, obscuring a considerable portion of the fairway but leaving an intimidating view of the front greenside bunker

Been actually enjoying planting this one. With the terrible weather this weekend I should be able to get a lot of work done. #3: Short - The only bunkerless par 3 on the course but definitely not hazardless. A thumbprint in the front center is the main feature on this green, with a few small bumps and ridges protecting the outer quadrants. The cliffs aren't 100% yet. #4: Road - This is from the preferred landing area, have to take on a set of dunes on the left to get to this narrow shelf #5: Double Plateau - The principles nose lost a nostril on the move to the coast, but the idea is the same. Pick a side and hope you chose well! A large ridge runs diagonal across the fairway where the bunker is and there is another short left of the green deflecting any misses.

Hopefully I'll finish this project by March 1st. Down to lots of detail work and playtesting and trying to convince myself everything is good. Currently contemplating changing two green complexes. Also trying to figure out a permanent clubhouse and how to close off the plot.
Here's two holes I haven't highlighted yet:
#6 Long: 580ish par 5 that is reachable if the wind isn't hurting. The fairway runs diagonal with three bunkers staring back at you from the tee. A pretty fun hole as you can run the ball up onto the green.
#8 Narrows: A medium length par 4 with lots of options off the tee, just don't miss the fairway to the right. I found the greensite for this, then took almost 2 weeks to figure out how to build a hole to get to it. Was a fun but frustrating endeavour.
#7 is a long uphill par 3 with good ground game options and #9 is a lions mouth green. I also changed #1 into a maiden so the entire front except #7 is templates which wasn't really the plan going into this contest but neat that it worked out.

Holy crap, looks absolutely insane! Thanks man! Your hype posts are fueling me through this! Spam planting grass is a very dull process.
