I am new to posting, but I have been using the proboard to find new courses for a while.
I am looking for an individual to recreate a course I used to work at as an assistant pro. I do not have the time to spend creating a course, but would love to play this course online. It is located just outside of Dallas in Plano. It is a Club Corp course and actually has two courses geographically separated. They are:
The Clubs of Prestonwood - The Hills, Located at 6600 Columbine Way, Plano TX (The one I want built, but wouldn't mind both of them)
The Clubs of Prestonwood - The Creek, Located at 15909 Preston Road, Dallas, TX
If you are interested, please let me know. I do have questions about the LiDar because I am fairly unfamiliar with it.
Are elevation changes included in the data, or is it just the distances and width of fairways and greens and stuff?
I can provide any information about the course (basically off of the top of my head) as I worked there for quite a while. This includes routing, elevation, etc...
Please send me a text for information if you want to tackle this, 7five7-3seven5-7nine4two.

Hi James, welcome to the forum. I am originally from the Dallas area so am familiar with Plano but have never played at the Prestonwood clubs.
To answer your question about LiDAR, yes, LiDAR is basically a way to measure elevation along the X, Y, & Z axes to create a 3-D map of the golf course. LiDAR measures elevation at very precise intervals (within centimeters) so the elevation and even undulations of the greens come out very accurately. If you want a very accurate representation of your golf course in the game, this is the way to go.
As for these courses, I see on Openstreetmaps that someone has mapped out the Creek Course, so it is likely that someone is working on that already. There do seem to be some courses called Prestonwood in TGC2019 so one of those may have used those splines but they don't seem to be using LiDAR.
I had a quick look and I could find LiDAR data for both courses and it does look useable so I can imagine that a strong course designer would be able to build those for you. As building a good course can take 30-60 hours of work, people would generally only be willing to do it for a fee. I would recommend looking into LiDAR King and Friendomber as they do really good work. I build LiDAR courses but I am really swamped with a lot of ongoing projects so wouldn't have time to do those courses for you but the guys
Good Luck.
