Hi All
How can you tell what the default wind speed and direction is during the course setup screen and prior to play?
Default fairway firmness, green firmness, green speed, weather and time of day are displayed but not the x2 parameters relating to wind.
I find this a little annoying as it's always good to set the defaults first and then you can make a change based around the defaults if desired.
Kind regards

Kind regards Default wind speed is different for each theme of course - so for some it may be low - and others it may be high, also, not sure if default means the intensity could also mean random. Not sure about default direction - if that is always the same or if it is random.. I guess you'd have to play a local round on the course with wind/dir set to default and see what you get - then when you play to tour round - see if it matches up or if it's different..

I had assumed this was set by designer like fairway firmness, green firmness, green speed, weather and time of day and therefore would be viewable prior to starting a round. What you say re. each theme has it's own default strength (e.g. theme highlands = high, inland parkland type course might be lower ??) might be true but surely the designer sets the direction based on what he feels might the fairest test or the most challenging. Would be good to know this info. Thanks for your reply

Thanks for your reply Before you click "Begin Round" you can see what the default conditions are by clicking the Settings tab at the top of the screen (above "Begin Round"). It tells you what all the conditions will be.

Hi All How can you tell what the default wind speed and direction is during the course setup screen and prior to play? "Default" wind strength and direction is "Random". The person who designs the course has no control over it. Designers cannot set a default strength or direction. Some themes - most notably, Highlands and Tropical - tend to be on the windier side of things, when "Default" is selected. Also of note is that, when set by the event creator to something other than "Default", wind does not vary much during the round. It tends to stay in a 3-4 MPH range, and within a 90-degree swing of direction (in other words, a moderate South wind will blow anywhere from Southeast to Southwest with a strength between 9 and 12 MPH). When "default" is selected, the wind can vary quite a bit throughout the round, both in terms of strength and direction.

...surely the designer sets the direction based on what he feels might the fairest test or the most challenging. Nope. The designer has no control over wind.

Wind speed and direction is not something we can set, unless I missed it, but I'm 99.9% sure those cannot be set.

I don't design, but I would prefer some control on default wind direction. Many designers take wind into account wind when designing courses.

Hit play and the screen comes up with the actual settings of the course, your golf bag, ect. Click on the actual course settings on bottom right next to the ghost player tab and the default settings for that particular course is there to see. Then back out and don’t play yet and go to your practice course play then you can do a few dry runs on that particular default settings as you can change it prior to your tee off in the practice run as you can change the settings.
