When people say they made a beta of their course what does that mean/entail?

Means they published an incomplete version of the course with a name that couldn’t be mistaken for a final course, like Crstestbetav1

A beta is normally an unfinished/unpolished version of the course they are working on. They'll release a beta to get feedback on certain aspects of their design so they know what works and what needs changed. Designers can spend 100+ hours creating a course so getting someone else to have a look at it may ensure they get the course up to a good standard.

Awww I didn't know if that's a no-no, good to know and would have helped with my issues on my first course! Thanks!

No problem If you do decide to release a beta just give it a short name like SAGCbeta so it's easy to find and it won't get confused with your final publish.

Everywhere else go for it but just remember you can’t delete a published beta. It’s there forever. When u get the beta feedback just edit the published course until it’s done then re publish the final copy.

Sorry for my ignorance - I'm working on my 1st course and would like to create a beta version. The problem I have is I'm working in 2k21 on an xbox console. I don't see anywhere where I can save two different versions of my course. Can someone walk me though doing that? I'm sure its simple - I started to do it last night but I received a message saying I wouldn't be able to make any more changes to the course and got scared - don't want to blow 200+ hrs of work so far.

You'll publish your course, ideally with the name "beta" in there somewhere. When that's done, your course will disappear from "unpublished courses" but fear not. When you enter the designer, choose "published courses" from the menu and select the beta. Now you can edit from where you left off. Unfortunately, your beta will be there forever so you want to be careful naming your course. Two courses with the same name can exist and it is confusing for players to decide which one to play. That's why beta is important to include in the first course's name.
