Be aware that plenty of tournament players do NOT seem to look at the overheads. Personally, I think it's their own fault for not opening the book on an open-book test. My 'Murray's Spring' failed, and we went into a long discussion about the bunker in the fairway on #4 (play it at least that far & let me know what you think !) being unacceptable as it was just over a rise in the fairway from the tee view. I just gave it a quick play and I didn't like the bunker on #4. Not just because it was blind (I didn't like that), but also its size and where it was situated. Sizing of your surfaces was a concern throughout the course, to be honest.

Thanks ... too big, too small or just too inconsistent ?
I admit I don't mind when a designer's bunker sizes aren't as locked into a range as their greens are. I tried to stay within about 1000 sq ft or so range of green sizes, but I am very much of the 'longer the shot the larger the green' school. As long as they are all within about 1000 sq ft of each other, I'm good with it.
As for #4, it was not exactly my most complete effort on that course, for sure. Probably spent as much time on the shoreline planting as I did on the rest of it. And admittedly got a little carried away with the off-course stuff.
Hopefully, despite the 'concerns' (odd feeling to get about a video game golf course, especially not your own) you enjoyed a few holes and the general feel of the round ... well, as far as you may have gotten.
I really only brought it up because the advice 'look at the overhead' got me a bunch of negative feedback. Plus, I believe in every play I make on someone's course kind of gives me leeway to ask them to try mine out !
Beginning to smell like supper time ... Tortilla Soup ! So, once again, thanks.

This is a great first effort. I really liked the course and atmosphere. Planting was done well. Liked some of the strategies. Thought your routing was good. I liked the openness and being able to see a golf course and you on most shots.
A couple things held you back that I saw. Scaling: Your green sizes were either too big or too small. A couple were right on point but seemed less frequent. I like to look at a green after I lay it out and pick out as many unique pin positions as I can find. If there's 7+ its probably too big. If there's only 2 or 3 then they're too small. A good rule of thumb is to use the measurement of the spline. 90 yards would be an extreme minimum. Max I wouldn't go larger than 115-120. Consistency is the key here. Your tee boxes were too narrow. The markers were floating because the land fell off so quick. Your fairways looked like a good width but too often you sculpted the edges down and ran the fairway off. Essential you're narrowing the fairway that way. A few of your greenside bunkers got narrow on you. I think that's why you might have found they were tough to sculpt.
Sculpting: a lot of your bunkers needed some smoothing. This just comes with experience with the tools. Your fairways has some good roll to them and looked pretty natural except for the edges as mentioned above. Cart paths needed some care too. They're a PITA. To get the splines to look smooth, they have to be sculpted smooth too.
Planting: Generally I liked the look and the colors you've picked worked well. Just need to be careful of getting to close to your playing surfaces. A few times I find grasses butting right up to the light rough or on it. Just give yourself some room.
Lighting: I think there when you get to a certain brightness the textures and game feel a bit to arcade-y. You were right on that edge. In good light the holes looked great. When you're dead downlighting it is a completely different look. Try messing with clouds a little too see if you can counter that. Also avoid holes that are straight downlighting. Try running those at a little more of an angle.
Anyway, enjoyed my rub round. It was a solid effort. Stick with it, you're not far off.

(did I abrieviate that properly? lol) I definitely wanted to push the boundires for the sake of making a course with unique quirks so it's interesting. Maybe I should have given me a few courses before doing that so much haha But I appriciate the indepth input. Glad even with the parts that needed work it still was fun to play. That's what's most important over Acepted/Tour Worthy right? (damn millenials and their participation trophies! ) Yeah the lighting is hard, late in the game I took clouds out completely to prevent the "overcast shadow/Boom too much light" effect. I really wanted a little more brighter version of Crazy's Blind Rabbit but when you face the ocean haze or fog dissapears so his was my best compremise. Spent a few hours on it but need to spend more for sure. I was pretty decent on cart paths playing with the handles and flaattening but some last minute moves some fo the cart paths went around or needing to move the paths I think made some jakety areas and at that point I took short cuts. Probably should have steped away for a few days then came back and spent a few hours doing some of that not fun spline working and flattening last minute moves I made, but I kind of rushed the last bit to get it out haha. Not sure I would have relized the Tee issues would be such a problem without other people playing, which probably would have been my downfall anyway on the acceptance. I mentioned this but I played Lake Sofia the other night and noticed how wide Sinre made his perched tee boxes and it kind of clicked that was my issue. That was the same night I got the non-acceptance. Lessen learned! Thanks again! I got a couple idea for two course ideas I'm sketching some routing for right now. Not sure how much time I'll have not having the holidays but excited to give it another try!

Bump for some more Playthroughs now that Dream Team contest is done and Rookie courses have been out for awhile. This is my first course ever and there were some hiccups and learning experiences already, but would love some more feedback as I start on my second course.
Issues: Tee Sloping - I made my sloping for my raised Tee boxes too tight and it starts to slope down at the golfers feet. Had a little tunnel vision on this but lesson learned Green Sizes: I tried to have variety on green sizes and shapes but needed a bit more framework on this. Was figuring out where to push boundaries and rules and where they need to be valued, pushed the green size rules a bit too much here, noted and will do better. Sand scuplting: I think generall I did ok here but some of my later scuplting moves around sand traps (usually for visibility) made some of my traps bathtubish at times or have some small lumps. I know I need to be better at correcting these when I make adjustments post my initial scultping of the trap.
What I really would like some continual input on is the strategy. I feel I was pretty strong on some holes and some holes my intended strategy didn't relay to the player as well as I hoped. I really wanted every hole the player to look at the next shot and the pin, really take into account what is the next shot after this shot at hand, what gives the better angle or what eliminates a hazard, what is a risk reward shot I am implying.
Also would love thoughts on lighting. I wanted the lighting to have a hazeiness but some holes it ends up too bright when you don't see the haze. I eliminated low clouds to not have the effects it has on the lighting when the sun goes behind them but the holes that don't have the haze effect leave some to be desired from that move.
Lastly anyone on PC feel free to give my club house area a fly over and some love/critiques haha

Played through this early this evening, AFTER playing Ghost Town, which I thought was your first course when reading your message and not the other way around, so sorry if this came off as super critical and harsh. Didn't realize it until about half way through LOL.
