Welcome to week 16 at Royal Halex by B.Smooth13Three tee's greet you this week (Green, White, Gold, Green in case you didn't know). Easiest conditions at the start of the week before things get a bit blustery and firm at the end. Shouldn't be any surprises this week.. everything is pretty much in front of you! Good luck and play well!

Nice looking and strategical course by B.Smooth13 , the green side bunkers can provide a bit of risk if you're going straight for the pin. Unfortunately my putting let me down on a few holes especially the 5th where I hit a double bogey and the 6th. I picked up that double and a couple of bogies to cancel out some of the 6 birdies to have me at -2 after the 1st round. Great choice catcherman22 .

Really want to play this today but my experience with Sunday mornings and HB servers are not too great.
Play a practice round or two I guess and see how the lottery hits my tempo.
edited to add.
I just saw VictoryLane has released his Pinewood course. I spent some time looking for it yesterday because I was unable to grasp the meaning of "coming soon". Think I'll go have a run at that, see how my tempo is, then maybe a practice run on this weeks course..then if tempo sucks I'll go shoot things in Destiny and grind some more bounties.

-9/-8/-9/-6 for a total of -32 in CC-E. Easily my best showing in TGCT since the new release. The putter was on fire! Even though there were a few putts that should have dropped, I was very happy with my short game this week. Only had 3 bogeys for all rounds, and a bogey free second round which was my main goal this week. Hopefully this performance was good enough to get me at least a top 10 and a couple promo marks.

Well I'm glad I played today.
Should make the cut. Think I'll end up middle of the leader board CCA. ( will keep my scores out so as not influence others)
Hopefully I'm wrong, have a hard time judging my positions against others. Others who are way more skilled then me. But over all very happy with it today. Didn't hit the -49 like the top of the PC leaderboard but am sitting in 9'th place at the moment.
Had one of those days where I seemed like I was playing well. And getting lucky bounces. 1'st in FIR. Started to feel like I was dialed in in round 3. No one to blame but myself if I don't place well in the end. HB Servers treated me good today. No very slows, a couple very fasts, but more perfects than I'm used to.
Random musings.
Hey John on the 17'th hole final round it's not necessary to tell me I need to pick it up if I want to catch the leader who is 20+ strokes ahead of me. Don't think I can pull it off. lol
18'th hole can kiss my ass in round 2 and 3. Bogey free for 35 holes feeling confident and starting to relax, only to totally misplay my bunker shot on 18 and bogey it..and did it again in R3. All my fault.
It's really nice to play a decent tournament and have no one to blame but myself for not placing well by the end of the week. I'll take tournaments like that any day no matter how I end up over having a tournament destroyed by randomness and tempo issues. Thank you HB for letting me play and determining my own destiny...oh Destiny...now thats an idea. (I'm a hardcore Destiny player lol)
Good luck all.
And thanks HB for cleaning the dust out of your server just for me. lol

Happy new year everyone. We don’t have a hole-by-hole by the architect so I’ll post what I found from the 2 practice rounds I played.
ROYAL HALEX
This week Catcherman is using 3 tees: (happy new year Catcherman) Par 72. Gold: 6729 yards, Green: 7140 yards, White: 7421.
Royal Halex G&CC 74.8 handicap – 2nd highest handicap this season behind Ayshire Gales the first week of the season.
A difficult opening with 2 of the 3 toughest holes leading off, and then gradually, the course gets easier. The par-5’s limit eagles and require 3 shots at times. From the first hole you’ll see there are trees bordering the course but it’s the gorse bushes in sandy areas that could wreak havoc after missed fairways. A north and northwest wind will be in our faces on the first 3 holes – all are tough so be ready early on for adversity and try to work in some low trajectory shots if the wind is strong. Remember that aspirin we needed for the opening holes at Chicago? Well same goes for here.
1-4-467. #3handicap. A crucial drive to be accurate with just like later on the 11th hole. With a north/northwest wind the first 3 holes will be rough. The first hole could throw us, the fairway is a must since there’s no room for a recovery shot from 200 yards away in heavy rough and two bunkers fronting the green ruin any chance to get onto the putting surface.
2-3-226. #1 handicap A second potentially tough hole that will play difficult with a northwest wind against us. The green itself slopes back to front but the 2nd pin is deep right and extends the hole another 10 yards. The 3rd pin is easier near the front of the green. Stay below the hole because lag putts from above the hole will roll off the green. Okay I’m popping the aspirin.
3-5-593. These par-5’s are not gimmies. This long par-5 also plays against a northwest wind making it a 3-shot hole. With 2 center-line bunkers along the way, the wide fairway still allows us to lay up if we can’t reach in two. The #2 pin is the best chance for eagle.
4-4-479. Time to relax a bit. This hole plays north so the wind will help and there’s plenty of room for driver in any conditions. Try to keep the drive left to shorten this dogleg left hole’s approach shot. Missing right of the fairway is the worst place to be as it will leave a 200-yard approach from the rough. The green rolls from back-right to front-left so a fade (for righties) towards it might be the best bet.
5. 4-412. Another dogleg left that curves late, use the club that you feel gives you the best angle into the green sitting left, apart from the fairway. Using driver with a tailwind leaves little room for error as the fairway narrows for bunkers. 300-yard drives will have the worst angle to a shallow green as bunkers short and long will interfere. Using a hybrid or wood will leave the best angle in between greenside bunkers since the tiny target sits diagonally. This is a birdie chance drivable par-4 with the tees moved up.
6. 3-191. Like Chicago GC’s 7th hole redan, this is a kidney bean shaped redan. Best to play a loaw draw into the right portion and let it roll on the front-to-back/left green for pins like #2.
7. 4-453. The double dogleg asks for a drive draw then fade approach. You can kick approach shots off the left bank bordering the green. Watch out for those little bushes your ball can get stuck in.
8. 4-403. Lots of options on this hole. Choose a club off the tee that best suits your philosophy – we have multiple landing area choices as well. The green is cut off from the fairway like on 4 and 5 so hitting the tee shot further won’t necessarily get you as close as on a typical hole. Difficult #2 pin cornered off from the rest of the green by tiers.
9. 5-575. A straight par-5 with 7 bunkers lounging in and around the fairway. A possible eagle chance with a north/northwest wind. The #3 pin will be incredibly tough to get near hiding right behind a bunker – a low fade that runs onto the green could help.
10. 4-433. Take on the center line bunker off the tee or go with a 3-wood. A bunker in front of the green makes a longer approach tougher. Another fade into the green may help as it slopes severely from right to left.
11. 4-481. #2 handicap. The hole to watch out for. A mandatory fairway. With any club off the tee, missing the fairway will be disastrous. The sand swale that fronts the green makes it impossible to make a satisfying approach. The green is more severe back-to-front so watch out on lag putts.
12. 5-567. Like #9, in the right conditions and easier tees, it’s an eagle chance but again, bunkers relaxing in the fairway could prevent the possibility. North west winds are best for an eagle chance.
13. 4-388. A relatively easy hole, just make sure your approach is within 15 feet of the hole as the two-tiered green is one of the few greens at Royal Halex that can wreak havoc.
14. 3-114. Northwest wind against-club up. #2 pin tucked behind left bunker. Judging the wind is key. Partial pitches are inconsistent – perhaps a full sand wedge is best. Against a strong north/northwest wind, you may need to go 2 clubs higher.
15. 4-500. A huge diagonal ditch cuts the fairway in two but the hole is too long so driver is a must. Challenging the rocky divide may result in failure to reach the green on the approach. Whichever fairway taken, make sure you don’t miss towards the ditch or the recovery shot will be with an awkward stance.
16. 5-627. Don’t expect to easily make up for a bogey on #15 with this 3-shot par-5. Into a north/northwest wind, the green isn’t reachable.
17. 4-311. Be a caveman/cavewoman – no thought, no strategy – just club it. Drivable in almost all conditions, by 17, the recovery shots out of gorse bushes and sandy areas should be easier by now-it’s worth the birdie opportunity. The tough #3 pin position won’t allow many eagle chances.
18. 3-200. Watch the tall spine dividing the green diagonally. Try to be on the proper half or a lag putt will bite you. The best miss is on the apron short of the green. Left you may battle a fence, behind the green sits two bridges that cross a deep gorse bush area and right is more sandy/gorse and two bunkers. With wind it can be tough to control where the ball lands so a low fade under the wind, bouncing from apron to green is the optimal option.
Royal Halex is one of toughest courses, take your time knowing where to miss before you take the shot. Try to have fun, there are birdie holes around so take advantage when the condition suits it. Have a great week and happy 2021!

That is one of the coolest, best, most rewarding to read write ups of any course I’ve ever designed. Thanks for taking to time to do that, sincerely, so neat to read. Best of luck all.

My first experience in TCG and I can't be more dissapointed. I use a non-official Xbox One controller and my scores were not accepted because I didn't comply with fair play regulations of the community. I can't afford a new XB1 controller and I will not participate in future challenges or competitions. I bought the PGA 2k game just to join this community because I knew the matchmaking of the game is broken. I respect all the regulations established to achieve a fair game, but this punched me.

You could just have read the rules before you started. Anyway, +3 to end my first round. No doubt the worst round I've played since I got my tour card. Will fight to avoid a demotion mark with my second round before refocusing on next week.

Just played my 2nd round and it was a disappointing -1, with all the fun happening on the front 9 with 3 birdies and 2 bogies. The back 9 was just par after par some were par saved others were just missing a couple of inches to the side.
I think I'll be kicking around the wrong side of the cut again, but I enjoy the challenge of trying to make cuts as it gives you something to play for even if you are way off the top of the leaderboard.

I got through the cuts comfortably on my first 2 weeks back Pat but different matter this week. An opening round +2 put the pressure on but hoping my -6 Round 2 recovers some ground.

The Admin do stress the need to use an official XB1/DS4 controller with good reason. One, they know from experience 3rd party controllers fail to pass the API and secondly their checks ensure a level playing field. This community is about the best you'll find and I would hope that you will be able to acquire an official controller so you may become part of it. You won't regret it.

That's a good 2nd round score hopefully it'll get you above the cut line. Out of the 11 tournaments I've played I've made 4 cuts, the good thing about the cut in CC is it gives us lower players something to play for. If I make a cut my aim shifts towards making the top 50.
