So, apparently having your ball rest between the fairway and the fringe creates a power range of 40%-70% if you use your 3-wood. Of course, I'm playing a course that has seas of sand (White Sands, Web-A) so I find a spot that I should make it to if the ball goes like 55%. It's a par-5 and I'm playing well trying to make a push to the top of the leaderboard. Nope, it goes 40% and goes right to the middle of this sea of sand. I guess I apparently should have just chipped it backwards a foot to be on the fairway.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I understand penalizing for not hitting the fairway but some of these power ranges are ridiculous considering the circumstances and I just needed to get it off my chest.

I don't know why I am replying trying to help after your sarcastic responses in the other thread that you didn't like what you hear but hey ho The fringe does not get gradually deeper as.you go into it. The fairway is the fairway and the fringe is the fringe. If you are 2cm off the fairway your shot will be as difficult as if it was a yard off it. That's the way golf is. Your range is 70-40% however it should be obvious after playing that it doesn't work like that. For whatever reason you appear to be able to hit the ball well under 40% even with a perfect swing. Many times I have had this shot with 3 wood and seen it bounce on fairway at like 50 yards and roll 30 yards. I think when you are in the rough or fringe these % may include roll out. Fwiw, curb your sarcasm in the previous thread and you will get on well here. It's obvious you can be a good contributer on these forums, but getting sarcy with one of the guys who runs this with all his spare time voluntarily just because he has told you they can't implement playoffs for logistical reasons is not the way to go. That thread was locked for a reason so this is all I'm saying on the matter, but if you want to enjoy a cracking run tour by some really genuinely good guys, just accept things are how they are and be happy by all means challenge things if you think they can be improved but accept the answers given

Uh...I've never had an issue with the playoff system nor any of the guys who put their time in to run the TGCT. I actually quite admire the job they're doing. It might be possible you're mistaking me for someone else? I tend to enjoy using sarcasm though so I must admit that I am a bit confused.
Thanks for the feedback though, sincerely.

I take it all back! Got you confused as the other guy who has posted about 10 comments that make him appear to be a 12 year old. Sorry!

That sounded like agree or be dismissed to me? Am I right you are right. Its been discussed in depth. You just don't understand that. You just think that the people who pour 40 hours a week on voluntarily should give up another 2. It doesn't work like that. Goodbye

People should have no fear of posting, or being bullied by intimidating posters. If the Admins don't like it then they can lock it / delete it. Too much hate going on here.... back to the Euro forums

That picture cracks me up every single time. Does the same to me. Always thinking about the film "Psycho" whenever I see it...
