Edit - There are two iterations of this course due to a mistake with the tees on the 5th hole. The "good" version is the one with this photo below and these tee yardages. Sorry for the confusion.
Designed by Tom Weiskopf in 2000 and spanning alpine meadows beneath the splendor of Steamboat Springs' great peaks, the par 72 championship course of Catamount Ranch stretches 7,030 yards from the back tees and is sanctioned by the Audubon Society for its environmentally sensitive design. Golf has two essential dimensions: the game - cast in ritual and tradition, and the course - the great variable. At Catamount Ranch & Club, Members play the majestic Tom Weiskopf signature course, as distinctive as the high country that shaped its design. If the essence of the game is challenge, playing at Catamount Ranch & Club is its best reward. The course complements its setting so perfectly, it might have been found instead of made. This is no ordinary course.
Grab a cart, this course isn't made for walking. Somehow Tom Weiskopf managed to design more elevated shots than should be possible on one course and I expect some long drive records will be broken. This course was quite a challenge to build. But knowing what I learned from the Perry Park build, I was able to maximize the object count available while also keeping the whole land plot elevation in high resolution. Not only does this make the terrain look great, this also means you can also experience the true ball behavior from all your errant tee shots as they cascade hundreds of feet down the mountainside. I hope you enjoy a round or two in the rarified air of the Colorado mountains. Here are some photos.
