Hi all,
Getting close to the end of this project and have just published a beta of the Championship routing under;
"Blinebeta1"
I'm looking for play testers who will kindly give me some feedback and make sure I've not missed anything / f'd up.
Couple of notes;
This particular routing is a composite of the 3 nines at the club and is the predicted routing for the 2021 US Open, I have done a lot of research and it seems they will incorporate the 12th hole from the mebers routing which is a downhill 122 yard par 3 and will sacrifice hole 4 of the members routing. it is also believed that one of either the 8th hole on this routing (509 yards) or the 14th (525 / 506 yards) will be played as a par 4 which will give the USGA a 7141 yard par 70 layout.
In the 2013 US Amateur they pushed the tee up on 14 and used it as a par 4, I have therefore done the same but I almost feel the 8th hole would make a better par 4 as it plays downhill, this is something I'd like to hear opinions on please.
The greens at this venue are notoriously difficult and small, I've got them at 187 for this beta as I'd like to give tournament schedulers this option, some of the greens are very sloped so getting 4 pins on them isn't easy and there's a few on yellow slopes but I don't believe any to be unfair if you stay below the hole, please let me know if you feel some of these are utterly ridiculous!
I have not added stadia yet but will do so for the final release and I will also publish the members routing with no stadia, no crowds and with lot's more "course dressing" in the near future, I've got 10% left of my object meter and 9% of memory, 7% of file size which I'll max out for both releases. I'm just deciding on what objects etc.
I would also like opinions on the penalty areas on the 9th hole (the short par 3), IRL it is a penalty area which isn't under water, it's just very long and unlikely you'll find your ball. At the moment it's just heavy rough and you can play out of it. Do you think I should make it OB? Should I try to hide some random water panels in the long grass? Should I leave it as it is?
I will also complete the rest of the OB once I've decided on this penalty area.
Lastly, I've only got one tee set currently but will add a few different options for the final release to give the schedulers options, I'd like to hear suggestions from people as to which holes they think would play nicely from a forward tee please?
Enjoy your rounds and I look forward to (constructive) feedback!
Thanks,
Patrick
