Hey man, just gave this a play, and it's pretty solid but I definitely think there are some things you could work on. I'm a "noob" at this myself but I've been watching a lot of videos and there are some things that I think you could improve going forward. I went kind of a hole-by-hole critique here.
Hole 1: Landing areas created by either side of the bunker are really small. I would have recommended placing the bunker on one side of the fairway to make it narrower but still manageable.
Hole 2: Looks like you just alternated the two trees on the left in order to create the treeline. Mix up the trees a little more, and if you do repeat trees, scale and rotate them differently so they do not look the same. I also thought they might be too close to the fairway, but thats more of a personal preference thing. Also, while it's a video game, how am I supposed to get from the second green to the third tee? Adding a bridge not only looks nice but makes it more realistic. This was a common thing throughout your course.
Hole 3: Same bridge issue as Hole 2. Retaining wall is decent but could have been sculpted a little better on the right. Retaining walls are tough. I abandoned the one I attempted on one of my courses, so kudos for trying it and doing a lot better than I did. Hole itself is very cool.
Hole 4: Layout is nice but vary tree sizes more. Boat is a nice touch.
Hole 5: Fairway slope is might have been a bit much for a longer hole like that. It played into the wind when I was there. Always tough to hit woods off such steep slopes.
Hole 7: Similar to the bridge issues, how do you actually walk to this green with it being completely surrounded by sand? Yeah, it doesn't matter for how the game plays, but is something to consider. Distant island behind the green looked very nice.
Hole 8: Forced carry idea was cool, but I carried it pretty easily due to being downwind.
Hole 9: Bunkers make the landing area really really small. Planting around the green is good and I like the driving range.
Hole 10: Looks really good from the tee. However, I landed on the left side of the fairway and had tall bushes and trees right in front of me and couldn't see the green at all. I think you should have made those a lot smaller, still would have looked good. Again, tree sizes/types could be varied more.
Hole 11: Like 1 and 9, bunker makes landing areas very small. I'm also not a fan of the tee shot being blind due to that tree, but thats personal preference.
Hole 12: I liked this hole a lot, probably best on the course. Planting was really good. I'm not sure if that was the look you were going for with the overlapping rocks, but it did look a little unnatural.
Hole 13: I like the hole itself, but the bridge issue resurfaces.
Hole 14: Really good looking hole from the tee. Planting around the green is good.
Hole 15: Bridge issue again. Also, what is the point of the island fairway? While it looks nice, it serves no functional purpose, and there's no way to get to it anyways (bridges). The planting in the pit behind the green looks good.
Hole 16: Pond looks good but seems out of place and forced being right above the cliff and the ocean there. Green complex looks really nice though.
Hole 17: Good hole, green is maybe a little too big tho. The planting around the pond is well done.
Hole 18: Good hole, but tree line on right has the same issues of uniformity/unnatural look that I mentioned earlier. Vary size, type, and don't plant in a straight line to give a more natural look. Slope at the back of the green also seems a little excessive.
I hope you don't think I'm ripping on your course, it was good I just felt there were a few things you could improve upon, like the bridges, landing areas, and treelines.
A couple other things: Are you using brushes in the middle of the fairway? Splines will allow for the fairway to come all the way up to the edge of the bunkers. Not sure why the game is designed that way, but it is. If you want the rough around the bunkers but want to change how it looks, CrazyCanuck1985 (one of the reviewers for this) has a bunker tutorial on YouTube where he shows how you can not fill the fairway spline and then use brushes to create the layer of rough, instead of the uneven auto-generated layers. Also, I design on PS4 as well. You can go into publish and take screenshots there when creating the thumbnail, and then just hit circle to go back to course edit.
Hope this helps, and I'm looking forward to seeing you next courses!
