Hello! Here's your very late Week #1 insane report!
So, the ice is broken. We played at 6 and the results are so far... crazy! Team Kara&Herbs spanked the Carpy's 21-3 (-295 to -224 total score too, ouch!) and Crapster's demolished Dango's 16.5 to 7.5. 2 other games went 14.5 to 9.5 and only the one between Pals and Dirty's had a very tight results with a 1-pt difference between the 2. Teams also had 1 total shot differencial. Both teams were the only to break the -300 collective mark.
I think it's a good indicator already of what's coming. There will be more big swings, more big win/loss than before. For 2 main reasons:
1. The pure mathematical odds of getting a tie between 2 teams is reduced when we share 24 pts instead of 16 pts.
2. The new format of 6 players makes Round 2 a bit different this season. In the past, it was frequent that teams would share the 4 points available in Round 2, going 1 win and 1 loss. But there's now 6-pts to share in Round 2 and the odds are very unlikely that both team will share points equal. It would required 1 win, 1 loss and 1 tie. So in most games now, a team will win Round 2. This slight change is enough to create bigger margin win/loss.
Here's another change for this season. The 3-stars of the week are now gone! May I present you the replacement:
The All-Star team of the week! One for each pools, I will accept as much as 3 golfers from the same team if they were the best of their pools, but no partners in Round 2 can both be on the All-Star team.
Little reminder for everyone: Your total score might not be enough. I check points earned, the strenght of your opposition and how clutch was your performance. Of course if you beat all golfers from the same pool by 7 shots, it might impress me enough that I'll check nothing else. This is not black and white. And near the end of the season, playing with a team at the top of standing is almost mandatory! I'll give a slack this season if your team won or lost the last week, as long you still earned your fair share of points.
Week #1 All-star team:
1️⃣🏅Materialization#5886 -67, 4-pts. Best scoring of Pool #1, only one to have a perfect 4-pts too. Easy choice
2️⃣🏅Hynis24#7620 -64, 3-pts. From the same team than #1, 7 shots better than any other Pool #2.
3️⃣🏅WhySoSerious_21#9373 -54, 3-pts. Best scoring of Pool #3 by a great margin too
4️⃣🏅ScottieWalnuts#2059 -56, 4-pts. Beats every Pool #3 too, no explanation is needed after that!
5️⃣🏅BMells33#7367 -50, 2.5-pts Tougher choice in this pool, but this was the best overall choice imo
6️⃣🏅Nickysixxer#3820 -44, 3.5-pts. Not by far, but was clearly the best of his pool in Week #1
The featured match of Week #2 will be between Carpy's and Peanuts. Both team had a rough start. One could erase that, one could be in a very tough spot already when the week is completed.
Our battlefield for Week #2 is called Haewa Dal Club. A bit late for a preview, and I erased that course of my memory as soon I played it! 😛 But it's definitly in the category of an easy week.
Have fun and good luck to all!
