To me it seems a bit unfair for those of us that don't make the invitational tournaments are playing for a purse half the size of a regular event. Like the money just follows the top players around. They are playing for a purse half the size larger than normal which is understandable. But why should the rest of us end up playing for table scraps. The last invitational event I made the cut but ended up making half of what I did the previous times I did make the cut placing about the same.

In real life there is no PGA tournament beside the Masters. So be happy to be able to play this week and not having to watch Doyley, Brionne & co on Twitch.

As has been stated, in real life the PGA/Euro Pros who don't make the Masters have a week off.
It's a concession from the admins here to host "regular" events the same weeks as the majors so everyone gets a chance to play, and actually, quite a generous one.
The way i see it, having the chance to play for a much higher purse is a reward for qualifying for a Major. If there was a regular tour event the same week with a standard purse i would almost certainly earn more money playing in that than the Masters. Which would be all wrong.

Just mimics real tours, absolutely nothing unfair about it.
Stop whining and make sure you get into the events if you want to play for a bigger purse. By now, the people who are in earned their place and saying it is unfair is disrespectful to their efforts and skill.

What I don't understand is why the purse sizes for the Champions Tour are so much higher than those for the Web.com tour. What incentive do the players on the Champions Tour have to make the Web.com tour? Just for the bragging rights of saying I'm on the Web.com tour? Bragging rights don't pay the bills or put food on the table.
I'm 115th on the money list with $47,240 earned; on the Champions A tour. On the Web.com C 115th is $2,583.
Given that, I'd prefer to stay on the Champions tour since I'm not good enough for the PGA.

Money earnings only mean something within your tour. The purses for all of the tournament for which there is a real parallel are based on actual purse size. What means the most here is your WGR and placings in your tour. Where you earn your money is more important than how much. A great example is the Euro and PGA tours. Using the actual purse sizes, there's a big disparity between the earnings for the two but no disparity in WGR.

This is all very well and good, but having a higher WGR is no good if you can't afford to get to the tournaments to play in them. This is supposed to be professional golf. That implies you make a living at it. Seems like only the top 40 or so on the web.com tour are making a living. And it's a very poor living unless you are in the top 20.

Sassy, tell me what exactly you are purchasing with your earnings? It's just for fun. Remember that. This is all just for fun.

Have a look at this: www.legacy.pgatour.com/webcom/stats/stat.02668.htmlCompared to this: www.tgctours.com/Tour/MoneyList?tourId=2Seems pretty accurate, especially when you consider it's only 4 months in to the season.

I'm not purchasing anything with my earnings. I know, we are just imagining we are professional golfers here. And sure, in the final analysis, it doesn't matter. And it's not leaderboard positioning. I'd rather be where I am right now on the Champions tour money list (115th place) than 25th place on the Web.com C money list.
I'm sorry, it's about earnings for me (even though I can't spend it). That's just my yardstick, my score, so to speak. And I'm not saying anyone else should use the same yardstick. Everyone has to decide what their measure of success is and it will most likely be different for everyone.

For next season, may we quarter the real life money on the champions tour? it makes NO difference as noted it is based on reality and that is how it is, just an oddity
