hi everyone - the one question i haven't been able to find an answer to is how to update an edited course with the tool after making new changes in OSM. Kent The Lidar King mentioned something in a video about 'splitting the contouring' in order to avoid overwriting edits when re-importing the osm map -- anyone know anything about that? most forum questions on this say you can't run the tool again without losing any custom elevations/tree work in the designer but Kent seemed to indicate that it can be done. what are the 'separate terrain' and other buttons for on the first tab of the tool?
thanks - Martin

i can confirm that the 'separate terrain' feature will preserve elevation changes in your course file. so, choose course directory as usual, import your edited course file (i make save a backup of the one in the tgc2019 courses folder and save it to my tools folder), click the 'separate terrain' button and save the file. then run the 'import terrain and features' to get your updated osm changes, and when you go back to the first tab after it runs, use the 'insert terrain and features' button to put your elevations terrain back into the updated map. then export the updated course to your 2019 game folder - you have the backup saved already in your tools folder in case you want to revert.
still wondering about tree edits. when you separate terrain, the brown 'land' disappears but the trees are still there, so i'm assuming they aren't part of the 'terrain' and i regenerate them again when i run the osm update. i haven't edited any trees yet.
welcome any comments - peace folks.
