The Braid Athletic Club, named after the great 5 time Open Champion James Braid, is a classic, 9 holes out, 9 holes in links course measuring 7270 yards from the championship tees. Good planning is required to tactically plot your way around the 195 bunkers scattered over the thin strip of land between the town, the sport playing fields and the sea that includes double fairways, double greens and sea views. An unusual, long and challenging opening par 3 welcomes you to the sea view and the challenge of the course, golfers are happy to start their round with a par before the opening par 4 2nd hole, the dogleg right littered with bunkers plays to the first of 2 double green on the course. Quick, firm greens amplify the challenge of keeping your ball on the correct tier of the green with your approach shots. Signiture holes include the driveable par 4 5th, the par 4 7th with walled bunkers on both flanks of the green, the long par 4 9th includes the deep pit bunker that should be avoided to reach the green, the 12th a homage to hogan's alley in Carnoustie and the par 3 15th, the thin green located between the deep bunker at the front and the vast, unusually calm Atlantic Ocean behind the green. The 15th is the start of the tough 3 hole stretch that can ruin a great score, before the dogleg 18th that plays back towards the town and clubhouse. Play well and keep your ball out of the sea and the sand.

The Braid Athletic Club is my first submission to Tgc Tours, along with the help of my ps4 society Driven by Design, in playing my course like other members courses and providing feedback and recommendations for improvement. For any ps4 players please come and join the great society!

Solid course. Is this a RCR course or some inspried by collection of holes? I really enjoyed what I seen and will be using this in the near future for Friday night.

Not RCR, some holes are inspired by real life holes, such as the 12th loosely based on hogan's alley in Carnoustie. 15th my take/ inspiration from 12th Augusta. I'm glad you might pick this up for a society / friday game. Hope it's well received if you do

Love the look of the timber walled bunkers. Assuming they're bunkers? They look very deep!

Nice track man had a good time on this one! A little quirky in spots but still played well. Keep up the good work!

Great work Charlie. Tough to make a unique links course. You pulled it off nicely. Going to put the tour version into a weekend major at DrivenByDesign. Can’t wait to see what’s next. Cheers.

I played this last night. Overall a vey well done layout. I just don't understand the wood surrounded bunkers. I didn't go in any but my friend did. He couldn't get out. Also the wooden greenside bunkers could possibly give you a horrible bounce if you land on the border. All the background views were excellent.

I thought I would give it a go, some look better than others... I tried to make those bunkers a genuine hazard and penalising.
