I definitely agree that that is what it should do (i.e you should get penalised for a grey fast not get extra distance). But that is not what it used to do (I used to get extra distance) so it is another thing to adapt to! And that's why this is a video game and not a golf simulation, in my opinion.... I'd say the perfect tempo of my golf swing in real life is probably 95% (or less) of how hard I CAN swing. It would be exhausting to go around a golf course and swing as hard as you possibly can but there needs to be a little in the tank to get a few extra yards of carry if needed. Speed equals force so how does a swing with a FASTER tempo produce a lighter swing? IMO, gray fast should add distance but lack accuracy and very fasts should go a mile but it should be a straight pull, at varying degrees of pullness. I get that people can and did manipulate that but people could (and do) goofy things like that in real life. Fatigue and confidence are 2 variables that I'd like to see in the next edition of a golf simulation. Fewer strokes (depending on effort percentage) and good scores keep the swing zone big but if the wheels start falling off, the window gets smaller and smaller. 🤷♂️ 🦊 Tempo in real life is not downswing speed it is rhythm of your swing ( measured on a ratio of backswing to downswing timings) perfect tempo is consistent tempo, an example is 3:1 ratio for all your full swings. In this game tempo is clubface angle on impact so the more closed or open your clubface the more you tilt the axis of the ball which will result in increasing loss of distance the more open or closed the clubface is. The only way you can swing harder in this game is the overswing. Anyway just popped over to say what an awesome society this is and thank Ben again for helping us with google sheets for our sim society. Love the team format you have here, great stuff.

You’re welcome Paul. We have a bit of fun. Everyone plays here because they simply want to enjoy the game. Anyone that wants to suffer can dig out a set of clubs and hit a real golf course. That’s realism for you. The team format originated with The Dirtbags started off by Bill Owensby billybudd0623. We have, through various guises, evolved that original idea. It gives that extra bit of meaning to your weekly rounds.

Thank you very much for the insight on the matter. I feel like this game lacked explanation (update notes, anyone? 😂) so I like to hear others interpretations of what's going on. I very much appreciate how customizable the game is because it's not a one size fits all. I have my PGA Tour rounds set to my liking and it's not like what we play around here but variety is the spice of life. Some days I like more simplicity, some days I like it to feel like it does right now on the golf course. And I'll echo that no one does it better than the people who put the Brew Crew together. 🍻 Again, thank you for the insight and if you have anything to fix my putting, I'll take 2 helpings, please 😁 🦊

16th hole in one on the game it was slightly lucky but they all count, it was also my third Eagle of the round.

I think once you get a feel for distance and get good at it, it then all becomes about line. I always use a good firm push of the stick as it is easier to hit a straight putting line that way ( there is no putting tempo so you can hit the stick forward as fast as you like).

Shame this isn't a sim society as I would love it here Paul I played the first two rounds of TST this week I haven’t done that in a while. I know it might seem a silly thing Les but not being about to turn off marker for TST is annoying and does kinda ruin the experience there for me. I just love the feel of no marker and just can't go back to playing the game with it again. Annoying thing is I could actually turn it off on TGC2019 when playing my TST rounds.

Ashton Fox As Paul says use a slightly higher viewpoint for putting it helps you see how far back your pulling the putter. I see streamers putting from the low view and wonder how they manage it.

I think the default camera (wide) makes it very difficult to see exactly how much you are pulling back the putter early in the backstroke. Not sure I could hit my putts with the worm camera, but it works for some 😉

SkyBlueBen R2 -4 Cr@p! I struggled to find any joy in that round. Whatever HB fixed was obviously aimed at making PS4 even easier because that was one of the most erratic rounds for a while. I even got plagued by the XB1 freezing issue more than pre-patch. And because I was so far away from the pin so often, I also had to keep heading into the options menu to workaround the 1ft rounding error. Grrr! The only ray of sunshine was a 38 footer for birdie on a hole somewhere. This Winer is more whiner than winner after that one.

SkyBlueBenOFTRExceeded my expectations on this one...Liked the course Simon, some risk/reward holes, and use of green contour to get the ball close to pin. Well done.
