Day 3, Match 8 Singles - Monarchs ( Crazy Croc) vs Strikers ( Kie) This match was the one that Captain Pete bogeyman dreaded. Try as he might to give all his Strongbows a chance to win, he KNEW that he had run out of players to match up against the formidable player from RSA. To call Kie a sacrificial lamb would be unfair...it's not wrong maybe, but he has plied his craft diligently in the wings waiting for his opportunity. Bless his heart. The match looked over before it started, Marc up 2 thru 8. But around the turn the contest took a strange twist: Kie popped in an unlikely birdie on 10 to cut into the deficit, then Marc missed a makeable on 11 and all of a sudden the match is all square. Several Strikers not in game came to cheer on Kie, and Shirley this groundswell of Stongbow Strong turned the tide. Kie played his strongest golf of the event, maybe the season, over the next few holes capping it off with a holed out bunker shot for birdie on 13 to go 1 up. Kie's distant cousin Will was so pumped he did the following:   This is where the Cinderella story ends, right? Strikers win, Kie carried off on the shoulders of his mates, Paige is there to smother him in her... Check that. Marc VN is nothing if not a savvy player. He dug deep and when it was needed, he sank a long and winding birdie putt on the 15th to square the match. Gutted and gassed, both golfers parred in to complete as epic a draw a match can be. No victories, but no defeats either. Match ends All Square. Paige went to Vegas to find Johnny. Onward. |

Just a little thought for the future which I’ve put by Admin. Enjoying everyone being involved in this Cyder Cup match play format so, how about an end of season event along the lines of 16 teams of two players (either drawn random, drafted on averages or selected from within the teams) playing.... Round 1 16 teams, 8 matches, winners to Championship, losers to Plate. Round 2 8 teams, 4 matches (Championship and Plate) Round 3 4 teams, 2 matches (Championship and Plate) Round 4 Final 2 teams, 1 match (Championship and Plate) All scored in match play format, better ball. Just using our normal Beer League rounds. Weaknesses? 16 players Round 3 wouldn't count, 24 players Round 4 wouldn't count. That may kill idea for some. Interested in thoughts from the group. Kind of thing you’d like to try or not?yeah I’m in 👍 |

Thanks Art! I am pretty chuffed to have been able to burgle a half from one of the PC big boys. My rat powered Xbox One S did me proud. Come on the Strikers.

The Cyder Cup - Day 3 Match 1
The Opening Singles match featured David G SirLeOssi from the Monarchs pitted against The Brew Crew's latest Regular Season addition, posh boy Mark mbuenger for the Strikers and it proved a titanic match with Mark getting 2 holes ahead on two occasions but David fought back bravely to level for the second time on the 16th. Both had opportunities to secure the win but they went begging and both shook hands on the 18th, honours even. Latest Monarchs 12 Strikers 7
