Apologies Art Vandelay and WutpaI have played my rounds, did my summary, FWIW, and obviously forgot to click post. Coz it’s not here!! I’ll have to sort it Tuesday night. It was a complete shambles except for OFTR.

Art Vandelay Wutpa American fun and games Actually .. i'm disappointed with my play, i should have been under par overall, but a cluster@!$# of bunker shots on the 17th Round 1 gave me a triple, and some bad slows when they were most definitely not wanted happened on Round 2. Course was tough .. yes ... but more than playable Round 1 / -1 Round 2 / +2

S9W6: Pub Crawl Rounds 1 & 2 at Sore Hole. Well, I'm glad that's over. I'd had a few practice rounds there so I knew what to expect, but man, that's a tough track. And whilst I agree with those who have said they enjoy playing somewhere that's a good challenge, I feel this went beyond that sometimes. I'm all for courses that are designed to make you choose your shots carefully and intelligently, and not just load up the bazooka every time. Fairway bunkers, water, thick rough, crocodile pits, molten lava crevasses....sure, bring 'em on. As long as there are viable shot choices that don't involve taking a putter from the tee then it's all good, clean fun. I don't mind a little sweat on my brow, in fact I quite welcome it. But, sometimes the punishment for inaccuracy is just too penal. Miss your approach shot 20 yards wide of the pin? Good luck, soldier. Hook or slice off the tee to a narrow fairway? You will be remembered. But, put your approach two feet from the pin and watch it sloooowly slide off into the water? You are dead to me. Hit a solid drive to the middle of the fairway and have it careen off a bump into the coleslaw, lottery-style? Get out of my house. Place the pin on a mound with yellow slope running away on all directions? I never liked you in the first place, nor your silly haircut. All shots are a combination of skill and luck. But when the necessary luck component starts getting to 50% of the proportion, or more, then you've lost me. In my opinion, this is mostly a terrific course. But there are a few design choices that add too much vinegar to the milk for my taste, and I do stress this is just my opinion and based on the kind of things that have always bugged me about courses. I am not a course designer though, and quite frankly I have a good amount of respect for anyone that can put together any course at all. There, rant ends. Anyway, I wobbled round in -7 for the 36 holes and anywhere else I'd have been hugely disappointed. But at Sauriol I just felt relieved that it wasn't worse. My scorecards have lots of geometric shapes on them, with too many of them being quadrangles. Some of that was my poor play, some of that fits into my whining above, but it is what it is and I'm still glad to have had the experience. Kind of. Forward Gasms! (Minimally.) Art VandelayWutpa Your commentary was possibly a bit more articulate than mine. But when I said, "Brings us back to reality, even though it can be a bit frustrating watching your ball roll within an inch or so only to then watch it stop 30 feet later or in the case of the 13th hole, watching the ball stop, then slowly start rolling back and down the hill and into the water." I really meant everything you said. Downward..

Art Vandelay WutpaCrawlin' thru America. After reading the tales of woah being shared here about the course, I decided to play a couple of practice rounds on Sunday. The first was using settings close to round 2 and I shot +6. The second was under round 1 settings and I scored an unbelievable -7 (or was it -8? Nigel could verify). Honestly after that I did not know what to expect, I just knew The Vandelay Way would not work on a course and conditions like this. Round 1 was much more white knuckle than the final score indicates. Round 2 was much better than expected. Here is the evidence: Onward Liver Let Die!

Pub crawl
America
Glad this is over ... Was really worried after being +5 on the front nine of the first round, but managed somehow to limit the damages. After that was (too) cautious on the second round to score. Sorry team
OFTR
Solid round here. It's not that often that I am breaking 30 in OFTR

Virtual UK Tour
I have a bit of time on my hands this weekend so what better way to spend it by playing pixel golf. Starting on UK Thursday Evening I will be embarking on a 54 stop tour around the UK (minus Ireland, couldn't afford the ferry). The hope is to get a stream going throughout so people can see where I am at and if you want to jump in for a round at any point, discord will be open. Very much open if timings work to get some Alt ball action going between a few of us. Basically up for anything, as the saying goes "Boys on Tour" Proposed playing schedule: UK times Thurs eve Fri eve Saturday Afternoon - Eve - Night Sunday Afternoon - Eve (With a gap to watch football)

Art Vandelay WutpaPub crawl rounds 1 & 2 Someone is a sadomasochist tour. No problem with a difficult course and this one seems to have been designed with the Plat tour in mind (for dart throwers) but felt on more than one hole it was what i would call "artificial difficulty" (severely punished for a reasonably good shot) there are other ways to make a course have difficulty without ridiculous run-offs. Rant over here's the scores. Round 1. Kept a clean card here, pretty happy with -7 Round 2. Was looking to challenge deathstar Charlie's score until the ridiculousness struck on 15. Definitely feel violated after that. -2 Overall i enjoyed the challenge but need a couple of hours in a dark corner to recover .
