Hello Friends! Jim Nantz back again to bring you week 2 action from The Brew Crew’s 11th season. The champion Hobgoblins picked up where they left off last season at the top of the table with the Rum Raiders following closely behind. Let’s get out to the action starting with The Americas Tour
Match 1: Bear Necessities vs Hobgoblins
Necessities come into the match against the champs looking to separate themselves from the middle of the pack and keep in touch with the top of the table. They started off exactly how they wanted to with a win to open day 1. However, the champ Hobgoblins showed they are still a force to be reckoned with bouncing back to close the opening day with a win. The Force continued moving through Necessities on day 2 as the Hobgoblins swept the day convincingly to take a 6-2 lead overseas
Match 2: Brews Brothers vs Beer Belly Boys
Brews Brothers come into their matchup with the Beer Belly Boys looking to get their season turned around after a disappointing opening week. The Belly Boys, much like Necessities, were looking to keep themselves in touch with the leaders. It would be the Brothers starting out fast taking the Boys by surprise with an opening match victory on the final hole. An all square match to close the day kept them in the lead heading into day 2. The points kept rolling in for the Brothers on day 2 as another split match opened the day. An upset was in the works as the Brothers would also close the day with a dominant victory giving them a 6-2 lead for the trip overseas.
Match 3: The Plastered Bastards vs Chuffing Chuggers
A middle of the table battle between the Bastards and Chuggers who were only separated by a point after week 1 awaited us in match 3. It would be the Bastards maybe not being so plastered coming out fast with a sweep of the opening day’s affairs. Continuing their momentum on day 2, the Bastards stretched their lead with a comfortable victory to open the day. However, the Chuggers would finally get on the board to close the day with a comfortable win. Nonetheless, the Bastards would take a 6-2 lead to the Dangled Duckling.
Match 4: Rum Raiders vs Sultans of Swing
The second place Raiders looked to keep pace at the top of the table this week squaring off against the seventh place Sultans. It would be the Sultans getting on the board first as they took the opening match. The Raiders fought back to win the second match of the day and level the score. That attack continued into day 2 as the Raiders cruised to a win to open the day. However, the Sultans clawed their way back showing their mettle taking the closing match of the day in dominant fashion. This one heads to the Duckling all tied up at 4.
JN: What an exciting start to the week. Let’s move overseas to the Rest of the World Tour
Match 1: Bear Necessities vs Hobgoblins
The onslaught continued overseas as the Hobgoblins continue to force choke their opponents with another dominant win to open the day. Necessities would bounce back to closer the day however with a dominant win of their own to close the day. A low scoring affair awaited the teams’ top golfers as an E to -1 scoreline ended in an all square match. Leon would give the Hobgoblins the outright victory in another tightly contested affair to give them the win for the match. The tight matchups continued for the remainder of the match even though is was decided with Thomas and Chuck battling to a draw and Matt pulling out a 2-1 win over Mark. This one however ends 12-8 in favor of the Hobgoblins.
Match 2: Brews Brothers vs Beer Belly Boys
The Brothers continued taking it to the Belly Boys to open up the action overseas with a pair of dominant wins on day 3 to lock up the draw. Day 4 would prove to be more of the same as the Brothers showed that perhaps last week was a fluke. The match was over early as Stevie and Paul took the opening two matches of the day going away. Trevor would add a point in a draw with Randy M. and Randy Z. would add a dominant win of his own in garbage time but it was too little too late for the Belly Boys as this one was all Brews Brothers, 15-5.
Match 3: The Plastered Bastards vs Chuffing Chuggers
The Bastards would waste no time taking back the momentum on day 3 as they took the opening match to stretch the lead back out to 6. The Chuggers would bounce back quickly closing the day with a 1 shot win over the Bastards’ pairing. Not going down without a fight, the Chuggers pressed on to start day 4 with a win by Nigel. Marcus would put the Bastards on the precipice of victory taking the second match of the day in dominant fashion. A duel awaited us in the third match coming down to the final hole and saw Paul squeak by with a win to pull the Chuggers to within 2. It would come down to the final match of the day and folks, it ended early with Johnny taking it to the opposing captain to secure the draw. This one ends in a draw, 10-10
Match 4: Rum Raiders vs Sultans of Swing
The Sultans kept their foot down on day 3 taking control of the match with a narrow win to open the day and a not so narrow win to close it. It would come down to the final day and the Sultans put themselves on the brink of outright victory with David taking the opening match. The Raiders would not go down quietly as they plugged holes on their sinking ship with Marc and Art each taking wins on the final hole of the round. It would come down to Michael and Bova to determine what the final result of the match would be. In another close battle, it would be Michael giving the Sultans the outright win taking the final match 2 & 1. This one ends in an upset, Sultans 12, Raiders 8.
