I've used that before from time to time. The design is great. The way the game works is terrible as usual. There's that complex of 3 greens to the left of the driving range where it starts you. Ok, I managed to somehow toggle between only 2 of those greens and one green that is 600 yards away at the end of that hole that starts at the clubhouse. What? How do I play at the ones that have the raised greens to the right of the range, and is there a way to cut a hole wherever you want or did they take these nice greens with several distinct areas and just let you only have 1 hole? Hopefully I just am in the wrong thing or missing something, idk. So go into Driving range and select chipping practice. Once it has dropped you wherever it chooses to drop you then press whatever the PS equivalent of B button is (Circle) and it will show you an overhead view. Zoom in and out with your trigger buttons and move using your sticks. Move to wherever you like in the practice facility and then drop yourself there (X button). Then go into options and select auto-Mulligan and you can practice from the same spot until you choose to move again. The one thing it could definitely do with more of is holes and flags to aim at. They seem to be in short supply. But at least you can move to anywhere in the plot and practice. Including up at the house on the hill where you can smash Driver into the mountains!
Ok, so I did have it mostly figured out. The fact that there's like 15 greens in that whole area and only 3 pins that can be used is the part that gets me. I can drop a ball in the bunker at the far elevated greens, but I have nothing to aim at or yardage/elevation. Sure, I can practice the swing motion, but I don't feel like I'm getting the full benefit if I don't know what it is I'm practicing. It feels like the equivalent of hitting into a net, or a simulator that isn't even turned on.

But it's far better than the Driving Range / Practice facility we had in the last game. See my edit to my previous message. At least you can toggle between two of the pins on the main chipping area using RB and LB (whilst you are in the overhead view). And you can also activate the Pin on the Green at the far end in the same way (hover over and then use RB/LB to turn it yellow).

I putted from just inside a bunker today. Was in Pandora society on the course you cant mention. Mind it was so close to fringe on the reachable par 5. Just in front of right hand pin. I'm not too sure they've not tweaked splash bunker shots as I've sailed over pins today whereas I struggled to get out. Mind I was way way past flag but using same method. Time to hit practice area and try some stuff out tomorrow That Arctic Fury practice area is so good. There are so many different areas where you can practice. I pressed my B button and did full flyover earlier. Just to the right of the main Driving Range area are some steps down to a tee box where you can hit to the right to a slightly elevated green or straigter to a low green. There are some nice deep bunkers surrounding the lower green, ripe for practicing tough sand shots. You can drop yourself in one of those, put Mulligan on and splash yourself to death! Yup, I agree the fly over is awesome. There are so many bunkers to choose from. I just need more work with the deep bunkers.

inflames47I think all this talk about the practice range plus me trying to figure that out really messed with my head. Swing was all sorts of off early on, and while things were ok towards the middle, I was barely holding on towards the finish. Loved how the one bunker I hit it into, it took me 2 shots to get out of after all this! I'm just hopeless at that. Not sure it's worth the effort versus just trying to get better at everything else/being able to avoid them. Showcase @ Carnoustie: -2

At least put one in now since they made the splash shot nigh on impossible and that's what most players want to practice - getting out of bunkers without taking a double or triple even.

Designers Showcase inflames47 Really enjoyed Carnoustie. Very long course. Must hit the fairways to have a chance at scoring. Great addition to the Showcase 😁

Just design your own hole with green and bunker in the designer. In the designer you can playtest from wherever you like and rewind the same shot as many times as you like.

watch out brew crew i think ive finally fixed my swing after however many weeks of playing game seems the problem was with configuration(steam controller settings) as i seemed to have switch controllers selected also & also overlay looks different now for those that use also (p.c steam only) now i can hit dead straight line now mostly which will be better as i can concentrate on tempo great news for brew crew as i was ready to throw game out the window within nxt week as was getting so pissed with it What is this settings evil you speak of Whereas my controller thumbstick has a mind of it's own and never wishes to be straight. More resembles the walk of a New Years eve piss head returning home .

Designer Showcase @ Carnoustie
E
So a little Carnoustie to start the day, tough one . Narrow fairways, well placed bunkers, long par 4. Everything to make your life miserable . Pretty happy to end up in the par at the end. Missed a few drive, but my iron shots were mostly ok. Make a double on the short par 3 n°8 after visiting all the bunkers around the green.
So tonight England vs. USA, that's gonna be interesting. Was impressed by the USA on their first match, so it won't be à gimme for the english, even though their first match was very solid.
Have a great golfing day

There is a dedicated practice area for bunkers. There are two different selectable pins and you can hit to each of them from 2 different bunkers. When the pin is active (yellow) it will give you the distance and elevation to pin information. When in the overhead view use the LB and RB buttons to toggle between the pins.
