Ben I’ve not got the patience for that bullshit either that and the skill points are HB’s attempt at levelling the playing field across the systems is my belief. Basically when you set your skills your getting the game to do stuff for you like improved tempo or swing plane or transition, and fitting clubs to do the similar job is total overkill. I honestly don’t think it works, probably ok for the top guys who’s tempo is pretty consistent but people like me who’s best tempo is wild they don’t help very much. I could use any archetype in reality and get the same results on the course. Agree with you here, took off my skill tree , screw that.. golf works the same. I don't like my distances on clubs changing course to course ex I have a 131 club.. sometimes it tells me its a 140.. leave my sh%$ alone HB.. stupid game I actually hate it. I liked the club attributes from the last game by far. I don’t hate this game I just need to tweak things to my likings I guess. I went to a wind test course and actually wrote down all of my clubs and their distances at normal and with the loft and deloft. I did this for the last game with different sets of clubs and I’d just refresh with a quick look if I changed my bag. I did it for this game and on my first hole my 142 pitching wedge said 148 or close to that and then a few holes later it was back to 142. I obviously activated and deactivated skills but what a pain in the ass. Then I changed the way to was swinging for about a week and in the very beginning I was hitting a lot of perfects on my irons and prior to the change I had a lot of fasts with a slight pull on my approaches. Well, either my thumb was going back to my old way with the downswing or I am just not good with consistency at the new swing and I was getting crazy swings so I ditched it and went back to my normal swing today and I’ll live with it for now. My main concern now is the damn splash shot out of the bunkers. I’m all over the place. I hit 1 good one for every 5. I’m now shying away on some pins and just going to settle with a par and that is if my chip is good. My long putts are fine. But that splash is currently a train wreck.

Art Vandelay Well it is what it is! 3rd round +4 Ugly..but it would have been a lot uglier had I not scrambled like a mad man. There is way too much red on these greens.

inflames47 OFTR Shouldn't have played this round after getting my butt handed to me in the 3rd round at Pacifica. Did not really care for this course but that is because I played so poorly. Holes 9,10 and 11 got me and I just played it out.

The power boosts outside of driver (and maybe woods) seem like a trap unless you're that comfortable with lofting/delofting, partials, going down to pitch shots, etc. I certainly am not, so 90% of my points are just on swing path/timing. I do need to re-organize my skills, as most of them were put in place when I was shooting high 70s, so my ability to activate/deactivate things is a bit different now.
In general, one thing that I have been thinking of doing is pushing my yardages way down on my wedges and some short irons. My last change to my wedges has my LW at I think 111. I wouldn't mind that being 100-105.
Not sure if I have enough fittings of the offsetting thing to push power down that much, but I've got about 70-something orange fittings so I ought to be able to scrape something together.

After reporting horrid play above, I should note that I played the first round of the promo event and shot -8. Then I wondered why I am even trying to get promoted as I probably am where I should be in CCJ. This game is a lot of things but.....fun is not one of them atm. I agree with all the comments above about the gimmicks used. Maximizing $$$ is the name of the games as I have seen it in MLB the show the past several years. (that said, that is why they are in business) A lot of players will pour $$$ in the game like the makers intended...sermon over. Good luck to all with holes to play.

I putted from just inside a bunker today. Was in Pandora society on the course you cant mention. Mind it was so close to fringe on the reachable par 5. Just in front of right hand pin.
I'm not too sure they've not tweaked splash bunker shots as I've sailed over pins today whereas I struggled to get out. Mind I was way way past flag but using same method.
Time to hit practice area and try some stuff out tomorrow

I pressed my B button and did full flyover earlier. Just to the right of the main Driving Range area are some steps down to a tee box where you can hit to the right to a slightly elevated green or straigter to a low green. There are some nice deep bunkers surrounding the lower green, ripe for practicing tough sand shots. You can drop yourself in one of those, put Mulligan on and splash yourself to death!

I've used that before from time to time. The design is great. The way the game works is terrible as usual. There's that complex of 3 greens to the left of the driving range where it starts you. Ok, I managed to somehow toggle between only 2 of those greens and one green that is 600 yards away at the end of that hole that starts at the clubhouse. What? How do I play at the ones that have the raised greens to the right of the range, and is there a way to cut a hole wherever you want or did they take these nice greens with several distinct areas and just let you only have 1 hole? Hopefully I just am in the wrong thing or missing something, idk.

watch out brew crew i think ive finally fixed my swing after however many weeks of playing game
seems the problem was with configuration(steam controller settings)
as i seemed to have switch controllers selected also & also overlay looks different now for those that use also (p.c steam only)
now i can hit dead straight line now mostly which will be better as i can concentrate on tempo
great news for brew crew as i was ready to throw game out the window within nxt week as was getting so pissed with it

So go into Driving range and select chipping practice. Once it has dropped you wherever it chooses to drop you then press whatever the PS equivalent of B button is (Circle) and it will show you an overhead view. Zoom in and out with your trigger buttons and move using your sticks. Move to wherever you like in the practice facility and then drop yourself there (X button). Then go into options and select auto-Mulligan and you can practice from the same spot until you choose to move again.
The one thing it could definitely do with more of is holes and flags to aim at. They seem to be in short supply. But at least you can move to anywhere in the plot and practice. Including up at the house on the hill where you can smash Driver into the mountains!
Edit. Just found this info from Hammersman on the HB Studios forum too:
"On the main chipping area with 3 greens LB and RB cycles through the 3 greens. 2 of the greens pins highlight yellow when activated. The 3rd green with the bunker in the middle you must make sure the other 2 green pins aren't highlighted and then you can chip to either of the 2 pins on this green. Right stick also tilts the overhead view, RT and LT zoom in and out."

Oh I know. I watched Kara and all of the shots. I just have not tried them all yet on a course where it counts. I tried the flop and it landed at the lip with a 3 Ft shot. But I’ll pick one and just try to perfect it. I’m going to play any course in a practice round and just purposely hit into the green side bunkers so I get all kinds of different lies. I think the game itself will preset your swing power and you just have to hit it and hope for a pop and stop.
