I personally prefer the previous format of two pairs rounds and then two singles (strokeplay) rounds against an opponent of similar skill level. I think that gives a good balance of team and individual competition.
But who cares what I think - I'm just a sub!
I care Kie. I'm genuinely interested what people think and you're the only one that has replied so far! We had to do something to accommodate teams of 6 to shorten the season. Or alternatively dump a load of players lol We could have gone with 2 pairs and 2 singles but we wanted to try and introduce match play into the singles and it would simply have been too much work to do match play for Rounds 3 AND 4. Art will tell us if it's too much work to do Round 4 in match play!! 36 players is a lot to accommodate and sometimes you have to find a compromise between format and work involved. Hopefully you'll want to return full time in the future. I like both formats, love the match play in round 4.

Thank you all for your kind and heart-warming messages.
I just want to point out that this cat deserves to be credited as a co-designer of (if I look closely at the screen) Royal Dornoch for Links 2003 :
So sorry for the loss of your beloved cat. Being a cat owner I can tell you there are times that they are just so adorable, and other times mine can be a monster in disguise, but there is nothing better then him snuggling with me at night or jumping from floor to my shoulder in one leap just to lick my hair. I sure hope you have a new monitor than the one in the picture!! Hugs!!

Despite my slow start to the season 😅

I'm liking the new set-up even if my team is currently bottom after winning two of the last three under the old format.
I think the smaller groups means the spread of ability within each group is much narrower (with the possible exception of the freaks in Group A!).
I think it also makes OFTR less important (only 5 point difference from top to bottom) and the main division more important (with 30 points up for grabs).
I would be ok with the Singles in Round 4 being total score to ease the admin burden and save the special nature of matchplay for the Cyder Cup.

SkyBlueBenI’m fine with the format you’ve gone with it’s a good compromise, I don’t mind the matchplay element as it means I can have a really bad hole in a round but only lose the hole not necessarily the match. I feel the one more for the road could be dropped, apart from giving admins extra work I think it just gives the better players another opportunity to gain more points over the poorer teams. If the teams are ok having such a poor player I might continue next season as well.

We try our best to set things up so that players of a similar ability are matched Les even in the pairs hence why everyone is split into "groups". Interesting thought for OFTR. It is a fair bit extra work from choosing the courses to setting it all up and scoring. The last time I mentioned dropping it the general feeling was it should be kept. I wonder if that feeling has perhaps changed? It was originally envisaged to promote Brew Crew courses but we were running short of stock for this season. A few new ones have appeared since that decision was taken. As for next season Les. Love to have you back.
