Good day everyone,
Not sure if this has been asked. I’ve looked before posting and really couldn’t find what I am suggesting.
I really wish there were more than just 3 pictures to preview of the course before and after it has been approved. I also wish we could have the option of uploading our own pictures before approval and after. I certainly do appreciate the people that take the time out of their day to do this (Karma and others) I wonder how many courses just get overlooked based on just 3 photos. Thanks for your consideration!
Eric

Just saw this post, so I am going to attempt to answer it.
I am not sure exactly what the problem is here, you are on PC and have put up lots of pics on your course thread. Courses are not judged on the pics that I attach for the database. There are reviewers who do that.
Many courses are reviewed before I even attach pics to them.
Again, courses are not overlooked based on three pics.

What I am trying to say is when you are browsing the recently approved courses or anything in the database generally, there are only 3 pictures. Most people look there I would think before deciding if they Might play then. A lot of people that just play may not be members of Our forum where they can see the course completed threads. Just a suggestion. I like going through the data base and seeing more than 3 would help me decide which courses might be worth playing. Thanks for the input.

Yeah, he means overlooked by casual players, like myself, who use the database as a way to find courses that have been 'vested' as of decent quality & playability.
Judging the overall feel of a course from 3 pics taken by someone not trying to 'promote' it can be a crapshoot, for sure. I know my courses definitely do NOT have their 'signature' or 'highlight' holes shown, and there's nothing I can do about it. Not that I care to, but others might like to do their own pics without having to do a whole thread on their course.
Did I understand correctly ?

I'm gonna say, karma4u will capture your course better in 3 pictures than any of us designers can. And he is trying to promote it.

Should we take a survey ... "rather the ability to supply the 3 pics or happier with it being out of your control" ?
I've seen lots of fantastic pics from designers willing to do threads, so I wouldn't dare say Karma4u is either better or worse than average, and that's really a designer by designer opinion to hold, anyway.
"He knows whats best, so don't worry" are famous last words.
I'll do 3 pics that I'd like from any of my courses w/o seeing what's on the database site, and then compare and get back to you on if I think his promote it "better than" mine do. Is there a standard pic size for the dbase images, so I play fair ?

As a starting point, Karma does a phenomenal job in keeping up with the course database photos. The fact that there's just one of him, compared to tens of reviewers, yet he's generally ahead of us still amazes me. FYI, when people say 'Karma and others', there are no others.
Could your course be viewed better if you chose the pics? Maybe. Is it worth the huge amount of extra hassle that would entail getting the right sizes, right resolution, checking that people aren't uploading offensive material etc etc when he already does an outstanding job? On balance, I don't think so. I do get where you're coming from, as I spend a lot of time on pictures of my courses as well - I'd suggest just using your completed course thread for those. This is obviously no definitive answer, but I can see why this would create a lot of extra work for very minimal gain.

In my work (day job) I always find ways to improve efficiencies or look for areas that might need tweaking. I am still somewhat new here and just want to get involved in a good way to hopefully get my work noticed and be of help to others on the site. This part of the site or sub board is called “suggestions” so just wanted to suggest an idea. Karma- just re read your comment. I do not have any problem at all. Again just offering a suggestion. If anything, it may could potentially free up a lot of your time uploading pictures. As far as making sure the file size is correct I would think that’s not anything much different that other sites that have a max width, height or max Pixel resolution limit. Obviously uploading offensive material should be subject to being banned. Had no Idea Karma was the only person. And I agree he does a fabulous job. But I do disagree in my opinion that many courses can get overlooked just going off three pictures. As far as the completed course thread I utilize that’s but not sure how much traffic goes that way from players on the main site. I don’t get much feedback as a lot of others do. Maybe because I just suck or because I’m still new or there are just a lot of posts. That’s why I wanted to suggest my idea so it could help me and others maximize our hard work. I tend to believe they go to the main site and then click “courses” then do the filtering to the newest. Again this is just a friendly suggestion and in no way at all was meant as any bad ill towards the way Karma has been doing it. I don’t see how he does it! Thanks again! Eric

So, no easy & secure way to give the creator access to the database pic files is a perfectly acceptable factual answer.
The rest is editorializing about karma4u's artistic skills (we are NOT critiquing his dedication or workload) versus each creator's. Fun to type, but ultimately case-by-case subjective and thus pointless.
Thanks !

Oh don't worry, didn't think either of you were suggesting he didn't do a great job - believe me, I know that there are certain shots you want of your own course. I more mention it because I don't think people know just HOW good what he does is. Plus, I can see the logistical issues, as Bobaloo says. Just my 2c

Maybe as a compromise add some sort of optional note to the reviewer and or to Karma to highlight a couple holes the creator would like to be shown if approved.

Is there any way for those of us who think we take good pics to audition to become karma4u's apprentice, learn the technical end, and thus be able to help out on a part-time basis ? I play the game on XBox, but can handle photoediting software well enough to properly crop, sharpen, etcetera any pics on the PC. I have plenty of free time these days, after all.

OK, so while I can't speak for the Administration I don't believe they want anymore than 3 pics in the database. That said, If a designer would like 3 specific holes in the database I would certainly try to accomodate. Just shoot me a pm before submitting to the database.
I am on Pacific time.
Cheers,
Vic.
P.S. Please remember, I would need either tees or flags marked with hole number.
