My Suggestion mainly just falls under wanting to become a more active member in the community without also coming off as being too annoying at the same time.
I was looking into how I could either grow into a helping role or volunteer. I'm really fascinated by what the course reviewers and rangers do on this site but I also am very aware that I currently am not qualified to help out with either of those roles.
It would be cool if somewhere on either the forums or site, there was a volunteer button as well as a more effective way to read/watch the requisite resources for the role. Basically my suggestion is this button could link to a large collection of good resources for newbies wanting to understand what the people here do and a list of the prerequisites for the roles on the site and/or if any help in each area is currently needed/being seeked out.
Right now the best way for me to show interest is to just constantly engage with people and or ask about these things regularly which I have a feeling can come off as a little annoying and could even be interpreted as Spam if I overstep or do it too frequently. It would just be cool if instead there was a page that was just like "here are the resources!" "want to reach out to see if you can help tgct? email this person (business email@gmail.com) about getting into this role or this person about another role.
Maybe this exists somewhere on this site and I am just failing to find it. In which case, my suggestion would be to make it more visible!

boffo is always on the lookout for 'fresh meat' to become a ranger...... just fire him a PM Only pre-requisite is the ability to differentiate between yellow, orange and red lines on greens! And be able to take and post screenshots of any offending pins
And mattf27 is the man to contact re reviewing / approving courses

And mattf27 is the man to contact re reviewing / approving courses We've had at least two colour blind rangers in the past, so really being able to differentiate colour isn't even a requirement to be a ranger. Typically I'll post a thread looking for rangers once during the offseason and a second time around midseason. We usually see some drop off throughout the year for various reasons, so I put out the open call for anyone interested to top up the numbers. I'll technically accept anyone that shows interest at any point during the season, but I don't want to be bombarded with a huge roster of rangers so I don't keep a thread open and active constantly just to prevent that from happening.

boffo I think that's perfectly fair to not be bombarded. That's why I'd love there to be just a volunteer button on the website that says "we need volunteers in this area!" or "we currently arent looking for volunteers, check back later!" with also a list of resources on exactly what each job entails. Or maybe even an apply button. That way when you actually need volunteers you can just PM people who applied and ignore the application list when you don't need any additionals. Frankly, I feel bad even @ing you about it as it just requires you to regurgitate this same info/thread whenever a new game and new people come around. I just couldn't find info about this topic anywhere on either parts of the tgct website and that alone isn't good.

Each level of the Tours has their own scheduler who is responsible for choosing which courses are used on their Tour. Before they ink them they get posted for the rangers to play. Since each course has 4 pinsets that can be used all need to be played first to make sure they meet certain standards. The main things we are looking for are lag and unfair hole locations but anything else we might notice along the way that could cause issues can be brought up as well. Once that's done then the scheduler decides if they want to use the course, as is, request the designer to make some changes, or change their mind and not use it at all.

How does one become a scheduler? Don't think I'd have time to be a ranger but as I run a very popular society in the game I have an eye for good courses, obviously they have to be in the TGC database.

I will say that being a scheduler is a lot more work than being a ranger. Schedulers are a much smaller group and you'd be looking at needing to play every prospective course for your Tour at least once. There's usually one scheduler for each tier of the Tour although there have been some teams in the past. Currently all Tours have a scheduler and I have no idea if any are interested in having a partner or not. I'll go ahead and tag hmammoth and catcherman22 here since they're our most established schedulers and could give you more details.

I think we're pretty well set for now.
