Welcome to Mayapple Golf (LiDAR), a real course recreation brought into 2K21 purely for nostalgia. This is the course where I played my high school golf for four years back in the '90s, and I still play here several times a year to this day. I'll be the first to admit that this course will not wow you from a design standpoint, as it has to be one of the most straight-forward designs of all time. However, I wanted to bring it to the game as another course in my local area that I have played hundreds of times because there's something very surreal about playing a course in the game that you know so well IRL. Despite it lacking any real interest architecturally, I hope you'll see that I pride myself with accuracy and quality when I do a LiDAR course. I won't do the project unless it can be clean and well-made, so I hope that you still enjoy playing it (and likely making a ton of birdies). The course only tips out at 6,500 yards, so if you want to give yourself a true challenge, use nothing longer than a 3 wood off the tee, but either way, beware of the many different boundaries that are lined with OB. Hope you enjoy a casual round and set the course record!

For someone who likes a real course over fictional/fantasy stuff this course is really made for someone like me, A real class design and i feel reading your notes not everybody who plays courses are TGC tours superstar players this course is perfect for a average player to enjoy and its just a class design and real fun to play.Got to say i did have to change the lighting to clear and noon could not see a thing the first couple of holes, again all down to preference especially for a player like me who does not use the aiming circle.Hopefully see more courses like this from you in future real class course. Console lighting default. Clear and Noon perfect for me

Thanks for the feedback Yeltzman, I appreciate the kind comments about the high-class LiDAR design. That means a lot to me because I don't believe in LiDAR being the "easy way out" to publishing courses, so I still put in easily 50 hours finishing a course when the LiDAR is pulled in.
Fair point about the lighting in that picture, but that only lasts momentarily with a big cloud. For some reason HB thinks that a cloudy day is the same as playing at night. LOL
I've got a few more local course LiDARs in the works, glad you enjoy them.

I think Lighting is all down to what you enjoy in any case will be interesting if anybody else comment's on it.Glad you got more lidar's on the way because to me how 2k21 is designed really designed for real courses, Just played Canuck's new one and it feels how the camera's are now 18 separate holes (not knocking design) where something like this just feels more real had a nice couple of days with this course and poppy hills and Birkdale.

It's funny that you had this idea, as I had a similar one for the course I played and worked at back in the late '90s / early 2000s. Most people would crush that course in this game, but it's a good challenge in real life. Going to give this a round today! Looks dope from the screenshots. Looking forward to seeing what you did... maybe it will push me to finally do the same... or not... we'll see I guess.

I played this last night with mattf27 and mayday_golf83 and we agreed to hit no more than a 3-wood off the tee, and it played very realistic doing it that way.

Really enjoyed playing this last night...love the feel of playing a course anyone could play on any given day. Felt like I was playing one of several courses near me, too. It just has that "local" feel to it, which I absolutely loved.
The only quibble I have is that, while playing this course on my PS4, there was a considerable amount of slowdown and stuttering when playing holes 7 and 8. It did affect of few of my shots when playing those holes. But a minor thing overall.
All told, a fun and enjoyable round on a course that feels like "home"! Cheers!

Thank you for the play and the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed your round. I'm sorry that happened to you on 7 & 8, that's definitely a bummer to hear of, but I can totally understand how that might've happened because of the rocks around the pond there and then the heather grasses around the 9th tee to the right. Ugh, that sucks. I design on a pretty powerful PC, so I don't get to see what the framerate experience on the PS4 and XB1 might be until after the publish is done. I do apologize for that, and I'm happy to hear that the rest was fun and felt like "home" to you.
I'll have another local muni in a few weeks and it won't be nearly as graphically intense because they don't have the heather grasses at that course, so hopefully that one will be fun as well.

No worries! I kind of assumed that was the case, and it didn't really make my round less enjoyable. Looking forward to your next local course publish - these munis are the courses I can relate to, since the courses here where I live are all part of the county park system and feel pretty much just like this one!

Don’t say I didn’t warn you! Gonna give this a try tonight mate, this is what Lidar is all about in my opinion bringing course to the game that most of us don’t even know exist. They’re ideal for players like me that can’t hit a cows arse with a banjo. I have released 4 Lidar courses that are local to me one of which I was a member off for 25 years, it got handicap rated on 2019.

I know a Few on here don't like the process but if your worried about the length of the course, you could always put what i call (black TGC tees in) make the course as it is in real life, then just add a set of bonus tees in.Sometimes a fun process to do trying to redesign a golf course for modern times if there is room on the plot for extra tees.99.9% of players wont know there added tees.It just gives players another option to play real course or play TGC version. Looking at that plot from above not alot of room to add many tees really maybe at the 5th.

I think that's a great idea, and actually what I prefer to do is publish the (LiDAR) one as it is in real life, and then I do another version and remove the (LiDAR) from the title and then just make whatever design changes I want to make and I don't care if it's fictional at that point. :-)
I actually think it would be fun to completely remove the surfaces on this course but keep the same routing around the houses and totally redesign the holes into a "good" golf course. LOL

LOL I have a Lidar terrain on the go at the minute it’s set in a castle grounds and doesn’t have a golf course on it in real life. I just thought it would be interesting putting a golf course on it. I have 5 holes marked on it at the minute.
