The undisputed king of electric guitar passed away, what a blow to the rock and roll community, and just the general music community as well.
He paved the way for modern guitar and inspired those who play professionally today.
Anyone else a big fan?

Hendrix is still the top for me, but EVH, SRV, Duane Allman, Jimmy Page and BB King are all in the conversation.

Interesting to learn this week that Eddie was also an avid golfer. Michael Breed posted earlier today that he gave Eddie a playing lesson one time. John Cook posted that he played golf frequently with Eddie and that the two of them became good friends.
As a guitarist myself, I loved Eddie's originality, but it was never my style to imitate his playing. He seemed to be pretty sensitive, too. I will never figure out why he couldn't settle on either Dave or Sammy (I preferred Sammy) knowing that they could make a huge fortune with either of them.

EVHs screech was so legendary. Like in dance the night away while he sang fire with the screech you knew immediately that it was van halen. That differentiation epitomizes his talent
