I do not have a dog in the "don't hit a Splash unless you are in sand" fight, but I have been working to try to figure out how to hit partial Pitch shots, and have come upon a problem. I can do 50±5% shots pretty well, as well as 70±5% shots, by making sure I move the distance marker as close as it will go so the swing is slower and then observing the player. But for the life of me I cannot find a way to consistently hit shots from 80 to 95%. The movement differences must be incredibly subtle, and when you get to those percentages a 5% power difference can mean ten yards in distance.
Anybody have any way to do this, or should I just stick with the ones I can actually do?

I would play pitch shots a lot more if the miss hits weren’t quite as destructive, when you can miss a green from 40 yds. I think that’s one of the reasons people don’t play them. When you hit a pitch shot right it’s a great shot but the penalty for a miss is too great kind of like it was when 2019 first came out and HB patched it.

I've been forcing myself to play the pitch as I believe it's a really good shot if executed.. I found to get the 'perfect' regardless of where your intent is marked , the DS has to be quite swift - the problem with pitch is that if you don't get it right - a Slow is really damaging and a fast just goes 10 extra yards regardless of the partial.
I've started playing around with loft and angle to account for the 70-80% ranges - but have yet to find consistent results - Have to hit the practice more for it.
I swear if you move intent closer to your golfer - obviously slows down the animation - but I also think it also caps the 100% at intent when it shouldn't. I've had a 30yd pitch with the 57yd club - so roughly 50% in the animation should get me about 30 yds - I swing - hit 101% Slow and the ball goes 17yds...
Frustrating..

So basically there is no method to hit these partial pitch shots. The swing % has no correlation to distance.

Just don't use it ever. Even 100% pitch shots are difficult at the master level.

So basically there is no method to hit these partial pitch shots. The swing % has no correlation to distance. There is a correlation, but it's not linear. I'll use my current LW as an example: - 100% = 65 yds
- 95% = 52 yds
- 90% = 38 yds
- 85% = 26 yds
- 80% = 20 yds
- 75% = 17 yds
- 70% = 14 yds
- 65% = 12 yds
- 60% = 10 yds
So, assuming you hit perfect or grey tempo, the 60-80% range is quite reliable even if you miss by 3-4%. The closer you get to 100%, however, the trickier it becomes, as the distance-to-power ratio steeply increases.

I tend to do the same thing as I do with putting - make an educated guess. I haven't got a snowflake's hope in hell of nailing a specific swing percentage so I look at the avatar animation to judge the length of backswing required for partial shots. The more of them I play the more I figure it out for various distances. The distance marker is also set at the distance to the pin or close to it.
I can execute full ones and short ones inside about 30m pretty well, I most often have trouble with the ones about 40-50m, I either leave them too short or hit them too full and go way over the pin. If it's only a few metres shorter than full distance I'll usually increase the loft and just play a full shot, and/or increase spin to land it past the hole and spin it back. For reference my full LW pitch shot is 64m carry.
It's the same sort of thing I had to learn IRL and I've just transferred it to the virtual game, when I first started playing again I was absolutely rubbish at pitching and chipping like I was in this game, but I've improved a lot since in both. Now I enjoy the challenge of trying to get as close as possible to the pin with those shots.

The pitch shots are the worst on the game and I don't use them especially on partial shots

I mess with de-loft and over-spin with a club which should come up short. Just started doing it this week with some success. However I usually try to avoid pitches but find it hard to avoid on shorter holes.

I have had some pretty good success by watching the animation of the golfer. As the backswimg starts it is quick then slows down right around the time I should push forward. The key is pushing forward a little quicker than a normal swing to get the correct distance, although not too much as you can get a very fast easily. Try practicing just off the green.

It seems to have changed a bit since that phantom update last week. I can't get short pitch shots (around the green) to stop on the green as quickly as before. I'm also finding it harder to judge the length of the backswing although I am improving that the more I play. I have to drag it back a bit further now for whatever reason.

Just don't use it ever. Even 100% pitch shots are difficult at the master level. For me it’s a 100% or I don’t go at it. I’ve executed plenty of pitch shots with the % intended or close to it and it’s never right. For example I was trying to hit a pitch about 85% with a 93 yard club and hit it just about 85% with perfect tempo and it went like 50 yards. I’ve tried so many times and it just doesn’t work for me. So if I can’t hit a pitch 100% I try something else

The result is very sensitive to tempo, I generated the data on "Beginner" difficulty, but on Masters there is a lot of variability. I am kind of able to generate a 65-70% power shot with both left and right stick full down that I can use as a pseudo splash shot, but it is far from reliable.
