Will someone please explain the theoretical effects of using the left and right sticks up and down, when using the true shot method. Probably my swing isnt consistent enough yet, but I dont see what effect moving either stick up or down is supposed to have on the shot. So any extra explanations would be helpful.
thanks in advance

Lou I think you are asking that question on the wrong website. None of the official TGCTours Society allows True Shot, so I bet most people here are not familar with what effects the loft controls have while using it. You might try posting this on the PGA 2K21 or HB Forum sites.

I havent seen where this is not allowed I don't know what it's called, but I think I know what you're asking. For the l1, moving L stick down increases the loft of the shot. This will generally make the ball fly higher and travel not as far. Going in the opposite direction will lower the ball flight, and generally will give you some extra distance (especially for the lofted clubs. For something like a 3 iron, it will actually decrease distance as well, and even for the lofted clubs, like an 8 iron, if you go too far with the deloft, it will start to take off distance). For the R1 stick, downwards increases the spin rate, meaning the ball won't roll as far when it hits the green (for lofted clubs, it may even have enough to spin to roll backwards after landing). Opposite direction and I guess the ball will roll further on the green. Moving this up and down also has some small effects on distance. Edit: Respawn made a video, I haven't watched it, but maybe it's helpful

It's basically used for fine tuning distance while still using a 100%-101% full swing. Say your PW is 100 yards, a full swing will go 100 yards normal conditions let's just say it's flat and 0 wind. Now the pin is 93 yards, hitting a full shot will go past the pin. Since it's a PW, we would want to land about 1-2 yards before the hole. So our aim should be 90-91 yards. To take some yards off the full shot, we will hold L1 and press down a few taps on the Left stick, this will increase loft (height) of the shot and therefore reduce the yards on the full shot. Now for the right stick, this is mainly controlling spin. It has some minimal affect also on height, and acts as an amplifier when the wind comes into play. But to keep it simple, Left stick is loft. Up is lower/longer, down is higher/shorter for most clubs. Right stick is spin, down is more spin, less roll, Up is less spin, more roll (considerably)

Left stick up and down is loft. Down will give it more loft, a higher trajectory. Up will give it less loft, a lower trajectory. Right stick up and down is "angle of attack" which is pretty much spin. Down makes for more backspin, up makes for less or zero backspin and more roll. Here's a good video from RespawnTV (who is currently ranked T48 in qualifiers) -> " USING TRUE SHOT - Tips For Loft and Spin PGA 2K21 - Tutorials / Tips / Tricks Episode 4" His tip on charting out your clubs on the range (with Pro Vision: True Shot and Pro Vision: Trajectory toggled on, obviously) is great and something I need to do soon. Because in TGCT tourneys, you won't have those on and will have to estimate the yardage effects of your true shot manipulations.

thanks you guys, makes some sense now. Just wish I could hit the same shot twice in a row, so I can more clearly see the effects ;}

Just wish I could hit the same shot twice in a row, so I can more clearly see the effects ;} If you would like to clearly see the effects, go out to the range or really any course with your settings on Beginner or Pro-Am. The difficulty setting does not (according to HB) have any effect on how those stick adjustments affect ball flight, but the low difficulty means you do not have to hit perfect shots to see what is happening.
