Suggestion: Swindon Downs - The Open

Swindon Downs - The Open is the course scheduled for the European Tour for Week 14 (Masters Alternate Event).

I wish to suggest that it be pulled from the rotation until later in the year, until the May update that addresses tournament winds.
Swindon is a great links course, the Open version is very difficult.
And wind is a major factor in a proper links design (as this one is)
The difficulty swings depending on the wind are extreme.
It would seem to me to do the course justice, it should be played in wind.
And in order to do that, the playing field for wind should be 'more level' than it currently is.

I love this course, and think it's a great test.
But it needs wind, and should be played in wind.

I hope this is given some consideration.

I agree Pub. I played it on the X Box and the best score at the time was +5. Cpl of the guys that had played it are in the top 50, one in the top 25 in the WGR and there scores where +8 to +11. I gave it a go, got on the box and my wind was 5 to 7mph. Only managed -3, but major diff. then there rounds in high wind.

Sorry about this late update. We have decided to stay with Swindon Downs for next week. We understand that this course is meant for windy conditions, but there's no guarantee that those conditions will exist after the May update. We could very well have 4 days of calm winds even with the update in place. Plus, the course corresponds with what we think would be an appropriate MacKenzie design. Also, this course may not fit into a future TGCT event so we feel that it's best to use it now and not risk it being passed over.
