Lots of people on the leaderboards only played one round so if they’re removed because they don’t complete the first event then a lot of us will be moving up. Don’t despair if you’ve had a poor first tournament Can I despair if I'm +50?

I'm going with perfects. Or trying to! It's all about not over swinging. If you can find that sweet spot to start the forward swing the 'perfect window' is much easier to hit. I have nothing against those using the fast swing, it's a legit shot in my books and I do it from time to time, but in general it's not for me. I keep changing my mind on trying for perfects all the time, some of the time, or rarely... currently I employ the following strategy (says the guy ranked in the low 200’s on the Q leaderboard) Driver off the tee, decent wind left to right - Play for the fast. Driver off the tee, decent wind right to left - Play for perfect aim so a perfect will hit right side of fairway (I.e. give leeway for accidental fast) Driver off tee head wind, tail wind, low side wind - play for perfect aiming for right side of fairway (pray for no slow) With drives another influence is water to the left of the fairway. For that I aim way right and go for the fast. Instead of risking an accidental fast into the water. Approach shot - woods/hybrids/irons - all depends on if needing distance between clubs - if so down club and go for fast. Partial swing not an option. Approach shot -wedges- pitches - mostly try for slight fast. Never try for perfect because an accidental slow is death in this game when pitching. Flop shot - don’t even bother - too hard to execute and no advantage over pitch or splash. Between 50-60 yards - rather do fast splash than try for perfect lofted pitch - you get an accidental slow that damn ball ends up20yds short and 10 yards right. Overall my FIR is now around 80-85% and GIR in the low to mid 70s. And getting better. But PPR is still a major issue for me. Just cannot get confident - I employ the back and slam forward method. Still can’t seem to hit them straight enough when I have a realistic birdie putt Yes I'm constantly tempted to go back to trying for perfects particularly when I hit one going for a fast - very frustrating when that happens.

Some of you guys have touched on this. I have no desire to be on the Platinum Tour. First place is -51 and T-141 (last place to be on that tour) is -25. That is a gulf of 26 strokes. That is insane! Obviously awesome job for the guys at top. Not taking anything away. Instead, look at the Euro cutoff. T-159 is -24 an d T-285 is -18. That is a gulf of 6 strokes. That is awesome to see from a competitive standpoint. I think you have to take it with a grain of salt. In such a large sample set, yea, there's some condensed groupings. If you were to follow the exact folks that are currently 151-300 for next week's event, I bet they'd be quite dispersed. Some will probably shoot better and be above the 150 line, others below the 300 line... I guess what I'm saying is don't expect a 6 shot spread in a weekly Euro tournament. The tight dispersion is clearly a function of such a large sample set of folks playing.

I would say no because all of those I mentioned are above you so you will move up, if others decide they won’t play the second tournament but you do you might get in.

Don’t despair if you’ve had a poor first tournament It's what I've said to others, post a score! You never know where it might get you, there's more spots opening up and so many variables on the leaderboard. And if it gets you nowhere what have you lost?

I will definitely be updating Cut projections minus the people who don't finish 4 rounds by tomorrow. Right now the mark to beat to get a card is +7 for the first 4 rounds. Remember there are still 4 more rounds to go so any can make a comeback, minus all the people who don't finish get removed and dont finish all 4 next week, also keep in mind they are considering adding more slots/flights or something so more people will get cards. Just keep pluggin away at the course. After removing everyone that doesn't have 4 rounds yet, the last place 1450th is +12 for the 4 rounds.

Wow.. what a tale of two 9's in my fourth round. First nine I was struggling so hard with the putter, slamming three putts past the hole 12-15 feet, still I had 2 birdies and an eagle to go -1 for the front nine. Then I caught fire with my approach shots and my putter behaved until the final hole. I had 5 birdies and an eagle going to 18. On in two, with a 20 foot putt for eagle, I slam it past the hole 20 feet. Luckily I made the birdie coming back for a -9 on the round and -25 for the event.
This puts me right on the cusp of the Platinum tour. I gave away a lot of shots from putting and feel I should be very comfortably inside the top 150. Oh well, I gotta bear down and practice the next course cause I gotta do 4 rounds in about 12 hours on Sunday/Monday before getting a new lens put in my eye. I can still do it!! Just gotta beardown!
Gl all those finishing up this week.

That is awesome to see from a competitive standpoint. I guarantee you once competition starts week to week the difference between 1st and 70th in ANY flight would be around 25 shots. And in any flight there are going to be about 50-70 players who are stuck, because they can not compete, but also can not drop down. It's been the nature of golf games yet we are having the same conversation for 20 years now.Unless you find a very small group of guys to play with ( not fun in a tour setting) youd have a huge discrepancy in scores.

In other news. Sat and played my 4 rounds. Finished -30 for 4 putting me top 150 for the time being. Coming into this new game I really felt confident that I could compete up top where I used to be when TGC1 first came out. I was never in the top league but I did qualify for the USOpen a few times and that was very difficult. I honestly feel like the new changes to Tempo swinging and putting has dramatically reduced the PS4 advantage over PC that so many people had. It might still be easier on PS4 I can't say for sure, but this game requires consistency and skill to hit good shots no matter what platform. The top guys on PS4 are going to be top guys on any platform, but I feel strongly that those bottom 25% that were in Platinum last season are getting a rude awakening and I would expect them to drop way out and down into Kinetic or CC league even. The game is a challenge but outside the top 450 players, -13 to -9 for 4 rounds is incredibly reasonable scores. Compare them to Scores in CC-A last season, even with Master clubs everyone was scoring -30 or better. It's great to have a game more focused on individual skill. Very happy and GL to everyone next week!

The last game with Master clubs was terrible on Xbox. This one if going for perfects is very slightly better but the thing that might even things out is the fast swing. Much easier to hit fairly consistently and negates the wayward tempo on Xbox. I've come round to it late, wasted a lot of time trying for perfects. I'm the same. There's just something a little more satisfying about hitting the perfect tempo. The fast swing still takes a consistent tempo, but it's not my cup of tea.

Heads up for everyone going into Evangelist. Pretty big bug on the course that will literally ruin your q-school if you end up here...
Hole 16 Par 5 over water. Approach shot went into the water and gave me the option to drop near the bridge that connects the gap. I personally will always drop my ball on the cartpath or similar if given the option on a drop, always a good lie%. I drop there and it drops the ball UNDER the bridge displaying a sandy lie. Played my next shot and and it went nowhere, gave me a penalty and now I have nowhere to drop and am completely stuck. Just stuck in the drop screen unable to drop a ball or go back anywhere just stuck. Won't be able to finish the round.
Simple solution is obviously do not drop your ball ON the bridge but if you somehow end up with the same fate.... tough... Q-school over.
Not sure if this is something that can be fixed before the tourney starts on Sat/Sun but thought I would try let everyone know.
If there is somewhere better to post this pls let me know.

What happens if you try “skip hole”? Not sure if that’s an option in that format but just curious.
