One of the putt types that really throws me is when i have to putt across a slope i.e. not up or down it, but horizontally across to the hole. How much do you need to take into account the downslope when determining putting strength for these types of putts?. When I miss it tends to then run off down the hill if I get the putt power close to the distance, but if I putt too gentle, it often doesn't reach. Any advice to how to go about doing it?

I play on very fast (187) greens.
I overborrow massively in such situations and then add on a bit as the ball's journey is longer than in a straight(ish) line. I have no scientific formula for it.
I tend to look at what I want to avoid most, so if a ball going past the pin will run off the green, I err on the side of leaving it short. If the green rises beyond the pin, I can be more aggressive. But practice is the best answer.

I haven't worked those out either. I normally miss them under/short of the hole, so I probably need to aim further above it and hit it harder.
At the end of the day though, it's pretty much like real life to me - if it does go in it's pretty much all luck anyway unless you're within a few feet of the hole. I usually just try to get it close enough to sink a second putt, if it goes in it's a bonus.

This really isn't advice. I try to play max break and try to trickle the ball in. If it drops, great, if not, it will be a tap in. Birdie tries are easier and I get nervous on the par benders.

Play a few rounds with putt preview turned on, you’ll quickly start to read greens better

Thanks for all the replies! On master difficulty it is the putting that is causing me the most problems - normally at least a couple of triple bogeys, and a handful of doubles! I think I average around 15 over par, or thereabouts, so if I can improve the putting then I can get that down a fair bit. That is the hope anyway I am going to practice with the putt preview turned on - thanks for that tip Riotous.

I find those sorts of putts difficult on any difficulty settings, assuming all things being equal in terms of meters and such. The stroke itself is still the same. It's pretty much all guesswork as to how wide to aim and how hard to hit it. I try not to put pressure on myself to sink them, and just try to get them within a few feet of the hole, the same as I do in real life. The majority of times I do and leave an easy second putt, but there are times when I do miss by a way, and these often turn into 3 putts. I've done worse than that from quite close as well just by hitting the wrong line repeatedly. I think the greens in this game read a bit differently to the previous game too. They seem to break harder for the speed the white lines move compared to 2019.
