But what about the course?
I say that a bit tongue in cheek but also seriously.
Focus on the playability and challenge of the course and leave the pretty stuff to the end.

As of this post I have 50 hours into my RDC entry. After getting some feedback from trusted designers, the decision to remove the retaining wall has been made. before I do, here is the hole that I had designed around it. lowering the terrain will drastically change how the approach shot will play into the green. Again, good luck to all the designers out there.

UPDATE:
as of this posting, I have 76 hours into the design for this contest. My object meter was at 26% and my memory was at 22%, but my file size was at 77%. Turns out, the grass I was planting did not belong in the theme I chose. once I deleted all the grass, that I had spent so many hours single planting every one. my file size dropped to 0.9% and my object meter dropped to 7%. That's too bad because now I have to start over all my planting and now with grass that isn't my first choice. these are the things that I consider rookie mistakes that must be learned by new designers. I hope this post is enlightening to you guys learning the tools of the designer.

I love how it looks, the dramatic sloping makes the tee shot real intimidating. In terms of design, I'm guessing carrying the bunker leaves a better approach?
