Just finished playing from Green tees, Pin 1, on Pro with virtually all assists turned off.
1. The Green tee seemed tip, so verify you flattened it and all your tees. Also, right fairway sand trap looks sculpted on one side and flat on side nearest tee. Also, right side fairway bunker needs some sculpting on side nearest tee (it's flat)
2. Nicely framed hole. Didn't love the huge bunker on the right and making it two instead would help with the aestetics.
3. Left fairway bunker sculpting on side nearest tee.
4. Seemed like a blind tee shot that a little flattening might take care of. Also, big blind bunker over green.
5.
6. Bunker over the green on the hill seemed out of place and perhaps planting there instead?
7. Blind bunker left and again the bunker to the right off the tee seemed out of place. Green was challenging and well done for the hole length
8. Good framed hole. I ended up pulling drive left, hit rocks and bounded straight right to 21 feet from pin. Missed putt on left lip.
9. Really solid hole here :-) Couldn't putt and missed short birdie putt. Not sure how I felt about the blind second shot, but still worked ball down hole.
10. Solid hole and lots of good here.
11. Pine trees to right seemed to be all same size and oritentation. Maybe it's my eyes, but I'd break the cluster, if you have it that way and turn some of the trees.
12. Another well framed hole and good par 3.
13. Good par 5 here
14. Nothing noticed here.
15. Back right pin was 2 2/1 squares off edge. Probably too close and move it to 5-6 squares at the closest.
16. The narrow right fairway seemed a bit straight and perhaps a little variety in the spline would make it seem less box like.
17. I ended up aiming way right up the slope and let it come all the way down to the edge of the green, pin-high. Perhaps plant some brush, etc up there to prevent that play. It took all of the trouble out.
18. Good hole and no major issues I found.
I enjoyed my round, but there was never a "wow" moment or hole. It's a very solid course and fixing the issues above would increase its playability. I don't know if you can add something additional to make some of the holes memorable. I'm not sure what I'd suggest, but in a world of millions of courses there needs to be something that is your courses signature and I didn't feel like there was any of that during the round.
Note: I'm a new designer to PGA2K21, after a long layoff from golf games, so please take my suggestions with a grain of solt. More experienced designers will give you great feedback and take mine as only player. I'm learning this process too.
Positives. I really enjoyed the variety of shots required. It's obvious a lot of work went into the design.
Cons: Sculpting, flattening (at least #1 green tee), and bunkers in unusual spots.
This would be a good society course, but it needs a little more aestetics for it to pop, along with the suggestions above.
This would be a high 3 or low 4 rating for me right now.
Congrats on your entry and you have my mad respect!
