I keep playing around with my bag and club selections to the point im second guessing myself to no end point. Im assuming that the attributes of each club is less important than the yardage gaps within the bag? Has anyone seen much of a difference besides distance in the different attributes such as forgiveness in clubs?
Im curious to what others are finding for themselves or if im missing the obvious club setup within the game or if there's some must have clubs. Either way I appreciate any help in advance.
ps my tag on here out of date, think my WGR is 434 PGA Member

Much like in real life, I've tinkered with my bag quite a bit!
I bought the Deluxe edition of the game so got the Deluxe GD driver included, but quickly swapped that out for the Ben Hogan GS53, which had much more forgiving stats. Whether it was more forgiving, or whether I just started to get more used to the swing mechanics is debatable, but I definately noticed a difference and my misses became alot closer.
I also bought the TGC CX Master irons early doors as they had the most forgiving stats, but again, couldn't say for sure if it was the clubs or me getting better / more consistent that saw improvement.
Played with this set up for a while before switching the whole bag out to Ben Hogans - Driver, 3 wood, hybrids, irons, wedges and even putter. My thought process here was to get better yardage gaps while still having relatively forgiving stats on the clubs. My swings were still a bit erratic. Mainly slight fasts and the odd slight slow mixed in with some very fasts.
The other night however I switched the bag out again and I've seen a massive increase in the amount of perfects I hit.
I'm now back to the TGC Deluxe GD driver, I've got a Callaway Maverik Max 3 wood, Taylormade Sim Max 3 and 4 hybrid, Wilson Staff Model irons and Callaway Jaws MD5 Black wedges. I feel this set up gives a mix of really good distance with reasonably amount of forgiveness for almost perfect swings as well shot shaping. I will be swapping the driver out again though just as soon as I've got enough coins to buy a new one.
I've got a couple theories floating about my head as to the reason why with this set up, everything seems to now be clicking.
Could be way off base, but one theory I have is that the "better" the club, the faster you need to swing to get a perfect. Might only be milliseconds, but definately feels different to a perfect swing with my old set up. But I should caveat that I've also recalibrated my swing probably close to a dozen times!
I do find it strange how all of a sudden with the 'much better clubs' I'm now finding it easier. You would have thought I'd have needed to master the more basic clubs first before upgrading, but it's not been the case. Strange one.

I’m also torn on what to put in my bag. I don’t play much real golf so I’m not really familiar with things like club face angles. When I played I just had a full set of clubs from the same manufacturer and assumed the yardages would be good. My swing is so inconsistent that it didn’t really matter.
But in a game like this they are super important. So what is the strategy here? Mix and match for stats? For yardages? Stick with one manufacturer? I don’t know. I just started playing the game and don’t really have a lot of coins to be experimenting. It would be nice if there was a database or a wiki or something with the specs (yardages) of each club.
I tried to watch that video someone posted but it was confusing and there was too much time in between each showing of the club’s yardages that it just made my brain hurt.

tgctours.proboards.com/thread/24388/club-attributeNice spreadsheet to compare clubs by category. I modified his weighting to my liking, so I could compare clubs the way I figure my game would improve. I will share that if you would like. It is still confusing to have 2-3 identically named clubs. That was pretty dumb.
