Of you mean those little rubber caps to stop your finger or thumb slipping off the stick, no they aren't frowned upon at all.

I struggled with fast swings, so I put the control freaks on, which make the stick longer and slows your normal swing down. Worked for me

Tried multiple rubber grips and I can't use them. I like that they all non-slippery as opposed to the plastic sticks, but they're all too high for me, I find that it really screws up the feel on partial shots and putting. I could use something paper thin that would help the grip factor, anyboby knows of any? I do wish that the Sony joysticks were a bit sitckier, like to first version of the DS4!
